Guest Belgarath Krall Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 So, the title pretty much says it all. I was daft enough to say that I had nothing to complain about with my MPx200 last week but the clips have died/snapped off and it's now held in place with a nice bit of (fudge) packing behind the battery...dare i say that this works a treat, but how many of you have got busted SIM card clips & what have you used to solve the problem
Guest Jimbaygrant Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 My mpx 200 was sent off to get repaired and the engineers broke off my sim clips so it's been sent right back and I hope they will replace it. Jimbaygrant
Guest bopdude Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Hi to all, I have been having a similar problem ( I think ) Every so often when I open my mpx200 I have an error report on screen, it goes something along the lines of. Error reading from sim or invalid card, please replace and try again. Thats from memory but could this be linked to the clip problem ??? thanks for any feedback and awesome site :D

Jimbaygrant I would have thought that they would have to replace the phone the clips being part of the chassis? :?
Guest Belgarath Krall Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Error reading from sim or invalid card, please replace and try again. Thats from memory but could this be linked to the clip problem ??? well the clips really are small, right at the top of the battery compartment, its fairly easy to see if the SIM card isnt sitting right...even my old Sony J5e hated having it's battery out...though that heap of junk is consigned to the bin...my brother's room, but that's pretty much the same thing. :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Small piece of paper does the trick for me.
Guest bopdude Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Small piece of paper does the trick for me. Thanks to all, so i'm to asume its a phone fault and not the card itself and a simple wedge of paper will keep the card secure. I will try it, thanks a lot :D
Guest Belgarath Krall Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Small piece of paper does the trick for me. It was the most accurately cut piece of paper I have ever cut...I was very impressed, fits like a glove :D ...the (fudge) packing was all a lie ;)
Guest shaggyguitarist Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 I just discovered this site... it rocks I got my mpx january and already ive had 2 handsets. after just 2 weeks the keypad lights decided they didnt want to work anymore, and instead they buzzed which interfered with the calls!!! I got an instore replacement so it was happy days!! Just a couple of weeks later my mum got a new fone and i offered to back up her sim contacts with my fone..But when inserting my own sim back in, the darn little black clip fell on the floor. I now have a bit of blu-tack between the sim and battery!
Guest mike-oh Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Hey, i just got my replacement MPX200 and look.....no clips!! At least it appears Moto are listening. Shame the headphone flaps etc aren't rubber yet. The replacement was because it wasn't charging btw.PICT0007.jpg
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Excellent that's the best news I've heard for a while :)/ Now to see if the keyboard conflicts have been fixed :?
Guest pimpsterific Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 just send the phone back and say it was because it was running very slow, and when u clicked like the number 7 to dial, nothing would happen, and then 2 minutes later the number 7 would appear on the screen. and make up stuff. send it. they will send ya a new phone for like 10 bucks. today i got a new one for 5. its so EDIT easy. they must not keep on record how many times youve exchanged phones, bc ive exchanged sooo many, that it would be ridiculous for them to give me any more. i had the same problem with the sim clips. but i called up, and told them i wanted to exchange it bc the sim clips broke. well the lady said i couldnt do that, i would have to pay for it to be fixed, so i hung up on her, called right back, got someone else, and made up a reason why i needed a new one. 5 days later, box sittin on my porch.
Guest Sasuke Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 hi, does anyone have a screenshot of the old style sim tab? my one is similar to the tab above, but my handset is not new... :?
Guest mike-oh Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 To the right of the 6 gold pins there used to be two little flimsy black tabs that the sim card slotted underneath. On the new one as seen in that pic it's all one piece of plastic. I'm sorry but i have no pics of the old style!
Guest Sasuke Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 thanks for the info. seems i have a new(ish) model then... too bad i just noticed that the little black tab on my one has come loose... :)
Guest skattrd Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 I sent mine back as the SD card clip had bust as well as the SIM card clips and got another one.
Guest mike-oh Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 Great! My 'new and improved' sim card clip has now broken also under no stress what-so-ever! Does this warrant a claim on orange care since i am now packing the SIM card in with loo roll?!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 4, 2004 Report Posted October 4, 2004 You can try but it will probably happen again and again  Since I changed my case quite a few months ago now, I am careful on how I remove my SIM and have not had the lugs break off yet :)
Guest mike-oh Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 paper (or in my case loo roll) is a botch job and not what i would call a fix. You shouldn't be expected to put up with paper as a vital part of your phone!
Guest otacon Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Hmm... my phone is the one like the picture shown above. I have read a lot bout busted sim clips... thank God I don't need to go through that ordeal...
Guest mikemoisi Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 mine is broken too and i use a thin paper behind the battery
Guest ronny Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 paper (or in my case loo roll) is a botch job and not what i would call a fix. You shouldn't be expected to put up with paper as a vital part of your phone! as awarner said "You can try but it will probably happen again and again" paper works fine for me, no more breaking, as there is already nothing to break. :)
