Guest MegForbes Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I've seen software floating about the internet which basically controls the IR port of iPaq's to work as a shutter release for digital SLR camera's (specifically the Nikon D70). Although I don't own an iPaq, I do have an SPV E100 and as it has an IR port it seems like this should be quite possible to program. However, I have no idea where to start. Does such a thing exist already? Thanks! :D
Guest spludgey Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 No it doesn't and alot of ppl here seem to think that it's impossible (I'm not one of them).
Guest MegForbes Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 Thanks for the optimistic reply Spludgy :) Do you have any further clues on how to turn this into a reality? Thanks
Guest spludgey Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 It might not seem like the same thing at first but it is since you want your smartphone to send specific signals. http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=108479
Guest MECX Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 What spludgey is on about is the inability of the smartphone to send consumer infra-red signals, it might be possible to get the phone to switch a camera shutter release deopending on the protocol it uses. Just like i can use my SPV to trigger an infrared light switch (it just looks for an infra red signal of a particular length) it may be possible to do it with your camera---the range of this particular infra-red module is probs about 1m (maybe up to 1.5 if your lucky in good conditions).
Guest kalinte Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 1 meter effective range? migth as well use your..............errrr hands.
