Guest frijj2k Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I searched the forum and couldnt seem to see any1 else with my problem. I recently updated my e200 from 1.1.1.6 (I think) which came on the phone to the latest orange version. It was supposed to give better battery life and sound quality. I cant really comment on the battery life as I have mine charging a lot of the time anywayz but the sound quality (especially in call) is a lot WORSE now. Everything seems quieter and when I am in call, people sound "distant". This is the least of my worries. Now, since the update, my SMS has gone crazy. When I am typing in a message, if I press the key '4' twice it sometimes goes into some mad repeat mode (Only when on T9) where it keeps repeating until it reaches the end of the line and then stops (doesnt wrap). I do not believe it is the key since it only does it when writing a new SMS and even then not all the time and if the key was stuck it should repeat and wrap at the end and continue...) Has any1 else had this problem? Could it be that the update went wrong somehow?!?!? I have tried hard-resetting the phone but it doesnt sort it out. My phone never did this before the update and I wish I had stayed on original firmware version now. Is there a way to get my 1.1.1.6 firmware version back?!?! or another firmware (DK? or sommat) which I could use which is better? Cheerz Frijj2k
Guest Foxy2k Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I've had this problem. So have others on the forum. There isn't a fix BUT it's not because of the update. The best guess is that the case is sleightly too tight because twisting it gently will generally stop the repitition. Try a search on the forum for more info.
Guest frijj2k Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Thanks for your response... will start twisting... :-) Cheerz
Guest bloodangel Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Ive had a few problems but i have never used my e200 without latest update (is new). I have fuzz on the sound recorder on a video. Random volume for no reason with tones and mp3's. A button once stuck (just once). And some other stuff i have written in issues.
Guest foulkesr Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 I too have had this problem for the last few days. Also I noticed that I was unable to dial two 4s in a row. Turning on & off didn't help. I rang Orange asking for a replacement phone, they said that I had to switch it off, remove battery and leave for at least five minutes so the phone could sleep(her words). I left it off for 30 minutes, put it back together and now it's fine. It looks like a software issue, I'd stop twisting your phone.
Guest XPhoneGeek Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Sounds like a possible corrupt mst9.udb file, maybe consider deleting this file & rebooting the phone to create a clean one, then add your custom words in using the excellent T9 editor & T9 Monitor prgrams available here on Modaco.com Cheers
Guest foulkesr Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 My phone survived another 12 hours before reverting back to the repeating '4' key. I even tried upgrading to latest OS without success. Orange are replacing it tomorrow, they said under 'Sale of Goods Acts' for faulty items within a 6 month period. I was told by another operator that replacement under Orange Care costs me an extra 15.30 for them to fill out the forms!!
