Hi There!

I'm new here (obviously), and I would LOVE to start customizing the home screen of my MPX 200.

I've been reading a lot about XML, and I think I'm ready to start! I made a rough draft of what I'd like to do:

ewmvjg2.jpg

Yes, i am an ALIAS nut. :-)

First of all, is this possible? I'm thinking I'll need to use RJTime plugin, but have no idea what other plugins I may need? Can someone help me figure out what I'd need to do this, and how to get started? I have HTML knowledge, I think I could feel confident tweaking the XML, but really need some steps to get started.

Feeling very overwhelmed...thanks for any input!

what you want o do looks pretty straigh forward except for the bit at the bottom where you have the MRU plugin (the icons) next to the date. Plugins can only sit ontop of each other not side by side, so you will need to have the date somewhere else (asuming you want to keep the MRU at the bottom cos it looks better there:)) perhaps move the date so its under the digital time? this would make things easier because then you can have the two times and date all in the RJTime plugin.

Since you know HTML it should be pretty easy for you to do it yourself so dont feel overwhelmed. In a home.xml file the first section of the text holds all the info about the colour scheme, with the colours in hexadecimal. Someone made a file explaining what each one means, ill post it if i can find it. After that the plugins are displayed in order of how they appear vertically on the screen.

Go and check out the homescreen download section on the site find a simple homescreen and have a look at the xml file in notepad. After that you should be able to see what you need to do. If you have any specific probs then just ask here and someone will surely answer.

Thanks for the reply! That color diagram will be very helpful! I looked at one of the XML files from the phone, and it seems a lot simpler than I thought...I think I may have issue with the plugin, but I'm sure I'll get it. Sometimes I have to just jump into something and not think too much about all the steps, LOL.

One quick question I have...as it is now, my phone has the G in the square showing the GPRS connection available. With the iconbar, that would put that G smack in the middle of Jennifer Garner's head. Is there a way to edit what is shown in the iconbar (I'm calling it iconbar, cause that's what it seems to be called in the XML).

Also, how do I do the smaller start menu icons? The examples I have only show them as large?

Thanks!

In the XML for the mru (icon list) find icon-size="32" and set the size you want, i.e. icon-size="16"

Woohoo, I've done it!

Question...is there a way to have the G for GPRS not show up at the very top? I still want the signal indicator and the chage indicator...just not the G :-)

there's no way to do that so your best bet is to edit the picture and resive it or move it down a bit!

Here's a screenshot of my layout (now that I figured out how to make one aliasscreenshot.jpg

It's not precisely how I want it, but perhaps it will evolve as I learn more! LOL

how did you get the MRU plugin to stay right at the bottom of the screen?

valign="bottom" does not seem to work

My SMS plugin is like 114 high...so that makes the MRU farther down... HTH!
