I have manual searched and auto, but still no joy. The old sim did work. Please can anyone help? Kind Regard Nadz
Guest squall Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 i use a 3 sim to - but its old - guess 3 have prevented it working...
Guest ndiqbal Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Hi squall Thats was a very quick response. Some how G3 are aware that G3 customers do not like the big brick handsets, so anyone using the G3 sim into any other handset, will get a replacement sim. The other reason could be that everytime you use O2 transmitters, it is costing G3 more money. Has anyone got the new sim, and does it work witha SPV E100 or E200 or any other Smartphone? Please advise. Thanks
Guest nedge2k Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Er bit off topic but its 3G not G3 :D
Guest ndiqbal Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Sorry yes its 3G. I am unable to get it working on my SPV. Is anyone else having the same problem? Please advise. Thanks
Guest ndiqbal Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Come on Team. Someone must have an answer to this.....
Guest squall Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 i dont have a new sim, however my old one is still working...
Guest xanadu Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 Er bit off topic but its 3G not G3 :D It's not G3 or 3G..... It's just '3'
Guest scott2eyes Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Wow- I had assumed that 3G networks used a whole different set of frequencies, and the jump from 2G to 3G would be the same as the 1G to 2G (analogue to digital) jump... I had no idea that it was possible to use a MS smartphone with 3G. Very interesting...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Only for voice calls, remember if the 3 SIM cannot obtain a signal it reverts to the O2 network. The SPV cannot use the actual 3G network.
Guest mattat Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 I may be wrong, but I think that the SPV isn't actually using the 3G network, but instead just uses the 'back-up' 2G O2 network that 'Three' use. This is why they aren't keen on people being able to switch phones like this, because they have to pay O2 more money than if people are using their own 3G network.
Guest beauchambers Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 the 3g sim card should not work in any handset apart from 3's handsets this is becouse 3 is a company called mm02 a sideline of 02 three works on a compleately diffrent network to the usual gsm900 and gsm 1800/1900
Guest dazza12 Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 the 3g sim card should not work in any handset apart from 3's handsets this is becouse 3 is a company called mm02 a sideline of 02 three works on a compleately diffrent network to the usual gsm900 and gsm 1800/1900 '3' as a company are nothing to do with mmO2 (check the corporate areas of each site for more info). '3' is owned and operated by Hutchison Wampoa, who set up and used to own Orange. '3' have a roaming arrangement with O2 in the UK for 2G use, and have to pay O2 for this. This is why using it in this way is prevented as it writes off any profits made. Using a competitor's network is not unusual. Virgin uses T-mobile's network in the UK, but also compete with them.
