Guest DancingMatt Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 When my SPV arrived yesterday, it seemed to be well (if not fully) charged. It didn't have speed dials for Inbox on 2 and IE on 3. There was a plastic protective film over the infra red and camera lens, but not the screen. I wasn't expecting it to arrive charged, as the manual says it needs 3 hours charging at first. It also says the speed dials for Inbox and IE are already assigned. No mention of protective film, obviously, but seemed odd that there wasn't any on the screen. Please let me know if yours arrived like this. Maybe I'm just being over cautious after all the reports of phones being returned! :D Thanks, DM
Guest spacemonkey Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 It should be new. They would be breaching trading standards if it wasn't. What I believe may be happening, because I've heard these stories before. Is that Orange is applying parts of what will hopefully be the update coming soon to new phones before sending them out. To do this they must be unboxing them and starting them up. Mine had protector films on the IR and camera but not screen and was in full new boxed state (flat battery, all bits removed and seperatelly wrapped). So no screen protector plastic is irrelevant. I'd say yours is new. No one would have not removed the film on the IR etc. Just my call though... I don't work for Orange I just make up stories of what I think is likely :D
Guest madu Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 Mine arrived exactly like that. I'm worried now... :? Nah, it works fine (after I spent days on this forum fixin it) Though a bit suspicious..... I was thinkin why it had no film on screen, but was quite happy bout the battery - could start playing with it straight w=away!
Guest Presser Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 mine came charged also but I put it down to the company I got it from either testing it or registering the phone to get the sim updates it requires. When I spoke to orange to get GPRS activated they told me the company had done parts of the registration but not all of it.... As long as it works and is unmarked I wouldn't worry about it mate :-)
Guest kevlar Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 Mine also came fully charged, infact I started a thread about on the newsgroup. Everone who replied got theirs charged. Kevlar
Guest stillwaiting Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 mine's came fully charged as well.
Guest spvman Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 ive had 2 so far and im due my 3rd (and hopefully last) tomorrow evening. The first was new and sealed in a box when i got it - had protective film over cam lens and ir but not screen, 2nd (13 days later)was also new (900 units later serial no.) as i had requested when logging the c/s call and had the same protective film on the i/r. The 3rd i have no idea as yet but is apparently comming with a new battery and charger as well (no idea why). As long as its got a working joystick and a bright screen like my 1st one then im gonna keep it!!!
