Guest shaund316 Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 ok, I've been on these step by step guides but they won't work so hopefully someone here can help..... I've got an e200 with the update installed, windows xp, and a d-link DBT-120 bt adaptor but I cant get BT activesync working which I wasn't too bothered about but I've got media remote now and I really wanna use it. so, I've followed the set-up BT activesync wizard on my phone and I used a guide from the net to try and get it working but it won't work. basically I've set up activesync to connect to COM6, which is my BT serial port that I connect to on the PC, but when I try and connect on the PC it doesn't find the phone, and if I try and connect on the phone it says 'error, cannot connect to PC. close other programs that may be using the connection and try again' hopefully someone else has got over this problem and they can tell me what I'm doing wrong cheers
Guest Vector Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 have you tried reinstalling the drivers? i had this problem, and reintsalling the drivers helped for me :D Completely remove them and then install them again ;)
Guest shaund316 Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 hasnt seem to have worked but thanks anyway
Guest Palindrome Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Try deleting the pairing and take it in turns to pair the phone with the pc, then the pc to the phone and test Activesync with each pairing. Restarting both the phone and the computer at some points may help. Basically, I've found it's a case of trying everything a lot of times until it suddenly works for no logical reason. Hopefully with service pack 2 for Windows XP, which is reported to add built-in bluetooth support, all this bluetooth frustration should be eased a bit.
Guest Vector Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 have you already paired the PC and Phone?
Guest shaund316 Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 I did pair them so I'm gonna try what palindrome suggested (cheers) and see if that works, but axtivesync has just started to come up with the spinnig green disc you get on the taskbar when its connecting but then I get this message: activesync connot recognoze this device for one o two reasons: *the device was not connected properly *the device is not a pocket pc/smartphone
Guest Vector Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 does activesync recognise your phone ok when you sync it via usb? :D
Guest shaund316 Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 yer it's perfectly fine so I can't think whats causing this ps- the unpairing didn't work :D
Guest Vector Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 yeh, it's strange... :s are here any updated drivers for your dongle?
Guest kevlar Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 I gave up a long time ago trying to get active sync to work over bluetooth, had no problems before the update. :x Kevlar
Guest Maverick Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 I can think of 3 things you can try. * Delete the pairing and re-pair by clicking on "Setup BT Activesync" on Start>>Activesync>>Menu. I know it appears to merely take you back to the BT pairing screen. But Activesync somehow worked after that. I used it on the premise that O/MS didnt include the "Setup BT Activesync" option just for fun. * In "My Bluetooth Services" on your PC, disable and enable the BT serial port... U do this by Right click>>Disable and then enable. It tends to bring the Serial port back to life. I presume that u have setup Activesync to look at the right port in connection Settings and that u start the sync from ur phone by using Activesync>>Connect via Bluetooth... not from the PC
Guest shaund316 Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you !!! it was just a case of disabling serial port, unpairing the phone on the pc and deleting the pc from my phone then doing the setup bt activesync wizard and now i can use bluetooth to control media player (only from about 3 metres away though lol) so thanks everyone and especially maverick!
Guest djboo Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 is it me or is BT generally a suck system? i work in IT and never really got bt to do what i want... ive now got bt for my system since i got the e200 and the only thing i can get working is the laptop using e200 for a modem. everything else is just failure and no logical reason why. i only want to use my pc's net connection when im near enough on the phone... is active sync the only option for this, or is there something a little less fascist that can do the job?
Guest ajb3000 Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 I had quite a few problems getting activesync to work over BT to begin with, but following the guide on this page http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=97583 worked a treat. Also, I have a 100m Linksys dongle and can communicate with my PC from all over the house, in every room and in the garden, haven't tried further afield yet, but it's pretty cool surfing the net over BT with a floor and 2 walls between my phone and PC, not sure how it's doing it but happy it does :D.
Guest djboo Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 my problem with this is that my bt serial port is com13: active sync sees 1+2 activesync seems really badly coded to me tbh.
Guest djboo Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 actually, on my laptop its com6... but sez it cant conenct as my phone is neither winCE or Smartphone device. (im pretty damned fscking sure it is)
Guest ajb3000 Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 I had the same problem... follow the guide in that thread I posted above (it's a few posts down from the top).

Can you tell me what level of BT software you're running under? I tried to update my BT drivers last night and managed to totally screw my BT stack. And as I use a BT keyboard and mouse this was extemely annoying. I had to get in the attic and get my old USB stuff down! :-) Anyway, I spent hours last night trying to get back to where it was working and would talk to my mouse and keyboard, but I failed. Boo hoo. So, trying to get active sync over BT has been a disaster for me! :-( Not a good start to my SPV - after only a day. :-( Cheers Blakey
Guest dling1971 Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 As I was reading all the posts here....I was in the same situation....my BT software would on go down to com port 10 and Activesync only up to 9.......well I deleted all my com ports and software for my BT hardware on my pc....what a mistake. I totally messed up my BT stack.......so I backed up all my info and repartioned my hard drive......5 hours later........BT Activesync WORKS!!!! on com port 8 of all places.......pretty extreme, but it worked 8)
