hi.

ive got an ancient nokia 402 on orange pay as you go which i have had for about 4 years now.

And have just ordered an orange spv e200 on pay as you go to replace this. I am going to keep my existing number and transfer it from my old sim card to my new one that coems with my new phone.

However, i have quite a few contacts on my sim card and some very important sms messages. Does anyone know if it will be possible to put my OLD sim card into my NEW phone (when it comes) and save all my contacts/sms to my new phone then put it my new sim? Will this work or will there be any major problems with this?

Also as a new orange spv e200 user can anyone give me any helpful tips/advice on what to do with a new phone with all these new features?

Welcome to MoDaCo and the Smartphone community, mate :D

First thing to do is get your phone application unlocked. This gives you the opportunity to install unsigned games & apps and customise to your heart's content.

Go here : http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/comdef.aspx

I'm not sure what comes as standard but you'll be needing Smart Explorer and Task Manager, both available from binarys.com

After that, go to monolithix.org for some freeware and CustomCabbage for some tweaks but then you'll want to do some reading here to see what's available.

Handango.com and Smartphone.net are the main commercial software suppliers for Smartphones.

The SIM contacts should appear under Contacts with no problem, not quite sure how you'd get the SMSs into the inbox as on the SPV messages are stored on the phone.

Regarding your contacts on your old sim, at the orange shops they have a contacts copier where they put the two sims into a machine and copy all the contacts and SMS accross from the old to the new.
