Guest Lifestream Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 I have the Microsoft wireless transceiver for Bluetooth that comes with the microsoft intellimouse explorer for bluetooth and I have never been able to connect anyting properly to it except hid devices. I can pair devices but the only service I can chose is dial-up networking (DUN). And when I try to chose bt setup on active sync on my phone is says that I have to chose a device that support serial port or active sync profile. I have had this problem with Sony Ericsson T610, Siemens SX1 and my Qtek 8080. I can´t imagen that 2 microsoft devices and microsofts only bluetooth transceiver can´t work together. It supports 8 bt devices at the same time and I have Windows XP Pro with service pack 1. Has anyone been able to connect anything other then HID devices with this tansceiver or know how to get other bluetooth profiles / drivers?
Guest Vector Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 have you tried just selecting "connect via bt" instead of trying the setup?
Guest Lifestream Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 have you tried just selecting "connect via bt" instead of trying the setup? Yeah, nothing happens.
Guest Vector Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 hmm, strange :? are there any updated drivers or anything available?
Guest Lifestream Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 hmm, strange :? are there any updated drivers or anything available? No, it´s very strange.. I have searched about this for about 2 years now with nothing in return. It´s just like I´m the only one in the world with this tranceiver. Microsoft only points to the CD you get with the tranceiver wich only has 2 things. bt software and SP1 with bt patch. I also have all the latest updates for XP.
Guest yoos Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 I called MS support several months ago asking about the abilities of the bluetooth receiver that comes with thier BT keyboard/mouse and they said they don't have any more BT profiles available except for the ones you mentioned.... I was specifically asking cause I was trying to get a bluetooth headset working.... That's pretty ridiculous....
Guest Vector Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 so you have to buy ANOTHER bluetooth adapter if you want to use other devices?!? that is pretty ridiculous :?
Guest Lifestream Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Thanks yoos, I´l happy to hear that the search is over :D It´s really ironic that microsoft XP Pro, Microsoft transceiver for bluetooth, Microsoft Active Sync, and Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 doesn´t work together with bluetooth from microsoft. Then I have 2 more questions. Wich bt dongle should I buy and does a 100m range dongle improve the range for Qtek8080 / E200?
Guest Vector Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 the E200 is still gonna be 10m range whatever range the dongle is :D i just have a cheap MSI one, does the job fine ;)
Guest lhulvej Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 I have the same problem: MS Bluetooth dongle and smartphone and no luck getting serial port to work. However I currently run XP SP2, release candidate 1, and the Bluetooth options have been significantly improved for the dongle, incl. the option of creating serial port connections. Unfortunately I still haven't found a way to get this to work properly with my i-mate Smartphone2 - might be a problem with the firmware in the phone or it might be me that haven't used enough time yet, but you might have more luck with this. Also, during one of my searches I found this page: Jon Scaife.com - it have a step-by-step guide for getting better drivers for - among others - MS Bluetooth dongle. Maybe this can help you?
Guest Vector Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 i used that site as the msi drivers wouldn't work, great guide :D
Guest rikwebb Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 I have the ms dongle that came with the Ms keyboard and mouse, and could not get anything else to work with it. That was until I applied XP SP2 beta....... I can now connect phones, and other BT devices, it has also given me some BT COM ports. XP SP2 beta is available here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...sp2preview.mspx Rik
Guest Maverick Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 I have the BT dongle from http://www.air2u.com.tw/products/bud.htm. It has widcomm drivers, which is a bit dodgy. Where can I get the latest drivers, so that I can periodically update it.
Guest Rob.P Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 I spoke to MS Support a few months back and they sent the section out of the SP2 Beta just for Bluetooth that I could install, without the risk of the installing the full SP2 beta. Definately improved the situation and got my BT working fine.
Guest yoos Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Sweet, thanks for all the info everyone!
Guest Lifestream Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 I installed XP Service Pack 2 and now after some tries it works like a charm!! Thanks everyone for the help! :D
