all of a sudden my MPX battery has decided its taking a break.I've had the phone for about 2 months now and had no probs at all.Now after a full charge and with minimal use (no video clips MP3) of the odd call and a text the battery lasts roughly a day maximum.i really like smartphones but this really is taking the michael as I'm thinking about ditching them until they get better performance in regards to batteries.if anyone knows why this has happened or has had a similar problem and sorted it please let me know

its common for battery life to be in the region of 1 - 1.5 days.

People often report a sudden fall off of battery life, but often it returns to normal after a few days / couple of hard resets - little strange i know

Factors which can effect battery life:

use (of course)

bluetooth

media

calls

homescreen

I find with smartphone that it tends to get filled up, so i hard reset periodically, may help you to do one.

Hi all,

I recently upgraded to the mpx200 3 weeks ago, the first week or two were fine with regard to battery life. By the 2nd weekend however it died while I was away! Fair enough I was using the mp3 player a little.

But by the end of the week within 6 hours of charging i.e by evening it turned off and would not restart untill I charged it for 20min or so. I was not impressed. Carphonewarehouse were great however they swapped the battery after orange admitted it had a fault.

Now a week later it is doing the same, so it must be the phone i.e. draining the battery. As posted elswhere I have caller line id running but I specifically didn't use any features and made less than 10min of calls.

Orange have said the phone is at fault so are replacing it next week - but to be honest I am expecting the replacement to do the same.

WHAT STEPS CAN I TAKE TO SAVE POWER I.E. WHAT PROGRAMS SHOULD I REMOVE????

Cheers guys,

Simon :?

my battery just died as well, i had a pretty big picture as the me screen and a 2mb ringtone. i just put them back to my previous ones to see if that helps.

try charging your phone for a good 12 hours+ to help to condition the battery.

Try to avoid short 20 minute charges as this will help to shorten the life of the battery.

it's been a month since i had my mpx200...and the battery life on this phone was really pethatic compared to my previous mobiles.the phone wouldn't last 12hours w/o recharging.and i only played abt 90mins of mp3 ,10minutes of call and abt 20mins watching videos.even the mp3 skips alot when the phone is closed.the phone usually had abt 18-25% of battery life after 12hours.

the other day my phone turned itself off after just 7 hrs..and i only played mp3 for 45mins and made 5 minutes of call...i was running imeter and it drained the battery.so i had the programme removed.a good prog that i had to part with.

 afew days back...i played mp3 for about 2hrs,watch movies for 40mins and made a 10min call.after 12 hours,the batt still had 3 bars-75% of power left :)

yesterday i i unpluged my mobile from the charger at exactly 1500hrs and charged it back after 36.5hrs..ie at 0030hrs with 4% battery life.

in between that i played about 3hrs of mp3,10 minutes of games,20minutes outgoing calls, and watched 10 minutes of movies.

and the mp3 doesnt skip :!:

i'm using a scandisk 512mb sd card and after defraging ..it improves the battery life by more than 50%...works for me

You need to use a USB card reader, they are pretty cheap to buy now from places like www.ebuyer.com

Take a look at Sprite Backup, this backs up everything you need before hard resetting :)

But does not seem to work on decerted UK MPX200 though

Alternatively then there is All-Backup by All-Locations :)

This SHOULD work on the MPx200....never know tho if Sprite doesn't, but you can always

give the trial a go
