Guest mattscholey Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Hi, Someone has changed my password for both my Hotmail and ebay account, and I can no longer access them. I've emailed both ebay and Hotmail, and ebay have responded, but I can tell Hotmail are going to take forever, and I want my account back now. Does anyone have any idea how I can find watever my password for this account is, as the 'forgot my password' thing isn't working for me (I think they've changed my location, which is what they ask for in the first step). Any ideas, on how to find the password for my account would be great. The account is ***. Thanks, Matt
Guest kyrkesmith Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Did you contact them through the form here? A couple of mates of mine have had this problem, and they got it reset using that form, but it was a while back, and I think there was an option in the drop-down menu at that time for resetting passwords. Now, there's not, and they specifically say at the top they can't reset it through email. I suspect you could hack back into your hotmail account (I have noticed "hotmail password crackers" on occassion), but perhaps this isn't too advisable. Incidentally, Hotmail do say they'll try to respond within the next business day, so perhaps it won't take forever. Good luck.
Guest mattscholey Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Eventually I did contact Hotmail and get the account back. I've tried a number of forms, most of which didn't work, were out of date, or just sent no response, but when I found the right form (from www.passport.net) they did respond within the next business day. Ebay suggested a virus might have been behind it, so I bought a LiveUpdate subscription, scanned my hard driver, and found 2 files containing a virus capable of getting stored passwords. Guess that was what did it. Such a pain really. Matt
Guest meatgrinder Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 lol, hacking msn passwords is highly un-advisable. the only ones that work are brute force and could take months to crack, waste.....of....time. Dave
