A very, very, VERY unhappy E100 User - Am I the only one?

Afternoon everyone,

I know there are many owners of the UK E100, E200 and the original SPV, but I have to admit, after owning my E100 for 8 months, I am very sad and feel very, very let down, especially by Orange and the service I have been offered.

These are my main reasons for complaints:

1) Cannot use the E100 as a Modem link for my IPAQ 3970. Dispite weeks of telephone calls, replacement handsets (twice now) and actually being sold an E100 because it "worked" with the Ipaq has simply not been true (the selling point was an Orange Trainer!!)

2) The Car Kit - To be honest its complete bol***ks!! When I fitted the car, I was having doubts, and the pathetic speaker it comes with is almost impossible to listen to when driving on a M/Way at 60mph - 70mph and above is totally unlistenable. Worse still, I get told I sound like a Dalek!! The quality is extremely poor.

3) The amount of times the E100 has locked up! I had to have a replacement for the 2nd time and this is now my third.

4) Hands free facility on the phone (when you hold down the green received button) is not very loud, even at its maximum settings. Comparing this with my sisters Nokia is an embarrassment! (Not that I go much for Nokia's

5) Signal Quality - Again no real fault of the phone, but Orange Signal in my location is pretty poor. I came from O2 before and never ever had a problem.

So today, I decided to go and see an Orange Trainer and discuss about getting an E200. Main reasons are for the latest update, better sound quality and of course Bluetooth, to work with my Ipaq H3970.

I spent 2 hours with him, and it took absolutely ages to get the 2 devices to "bond" together! (hope that makes sense!). When he did, he was unable to send any contacts, or calendar appointments to the IPAQ or visa versa. :D

Worse still, he could not get GPRS to work with it! After he spent time on his own Nokia, it turned out that there was still a compatability issue with IPAQ's and no idea if this was going to be resolved.

To make matters worse, no further investigation could be done as the battery decided to die!!! I know battery life is poor, but this takes the biscuit!

I am able to get my E100 to with with WinXP on a Laptop infra-red, but its not what I wanted to do!

Considering what I paid, and what I am paying per month, I do feel unhappy and let down. I hear of talk about a "second edition" phone being available, but again there is doubt whether this would work.

Is it just me or is there anyone out there that is NOT getting some or all of the issues that I have listed above.

Finally, I have to confess that Orange Trainers are pretty useless!! When it came to this phone, they simply were not interested in dealing with my Technical Query and tried to refer me to the Tech Support Number, which was no help as I do NOT own an E200 - Something they could not compute!!!

If this is the future of mobiles, then I think some serious lessions need to be addressed before a new Smartphone is released.

I am hoping that an O2 version may be realised. But not sure about this!

Sorry for going on, but its very frustrating not being in a position to use the device for the intentions of buying one.

1, the pone does work with certain ipaqs but not all. This goes for other ppc's as well, for example the Dell Axim x5 neverworked.

2, Yep this is one thing that was posted about when it first released, and always considered poor.

3, never had a problem with mine looking up, even afteer playing with various updates etc.

4, Never had a problem with handsfree to be honest.

5, Agree, there always been poor problems with reception but that goes for most networks in my area, I seem to live in a black spot in a built up area :D
