Guest bartio1975 Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 HI I used the tweak as suggested in one of the forums here. Basically I copied my songs to the folder Sounds in my Storage Card and changed the path in the registry (HKEY_Current_User->ControlPanel->SoundCategories->Ring) from Windows to Storage CardSounds. After that I was unable to go into Settings and Sounds. Phone will freeze at that point and I have to remove battery to reboot. I changed it back to Windows, but am unable to put a backslash after the Windows like "Windows". Will that cause a problem? Coz I notice other folders have the back slash at the end. Please help?!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Welcome to the site :D Unfortunately this is one reason why we give warnings about playing with the registry, it can be easy to do but can also screw your phone up as well. To get the you have to press and hold the # key to get symbols to show.
Guest bartio1975 Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 THanks! I tried inserting the backslash and rebooted the phone. Didnt help. ;) Luckily since my 30 day period with AT&T is not over, I ordered a new phone. Hopefully I have to be careful next time around. Do you know if there are apps that I can use to back up my phone before doing a reset, say things go wrong with my new phone again when I play with it.. :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Normally if you mess with the registry a Hard Reset will fix most problems. As for backing up the whole phone there is not one available for the mpx200 at the moment.
Guest bartio1975 Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 I found out what the problem was.. I used /Windows/ instead of Windows :x
