Guest comebackdx Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 I use the alarm and reminders on the phone for tasks, and appointments. I find that when either goes off, the phone goes slow, and it takes some time before I can dismiss it. Has anyone experienced the same problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Not had this problem, have you got many apps etc running in the background? That may be the reason the phone goes slow.
Guest comebackdx Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 I do have the World Off Line program sitting in the background, which does not uninstall properly (keeps saying that the WOL.exe program is not available - so I kept it installed to prevent this message). I'd like to get rid of it once and for all, but the developers reply by giving you the license key as a form of compensation. However I'd prefer if it was not there. Any suggestions? Could a Hard Reset be on the horizon...?
Guest squall Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 haven't used the prog myself however - check active sync - that can store a list of apps installed on the device under options - add remove on the device the uninstall list is at //settings /remove programs also see if there is a shortcut to it in the start menu ipsm/windows/start menu
Guest comebackdx Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 WOL.exe is a nasty piece of work, the equivalent of a weed. You think you've removed it from the desktop, smartphone, registry (on both desktop & smartphone) - but it's still lurking, and in no time rears its ugly head. Having considered everything (including the forum posts about WOL.exe), the only option was to go for a Hard Reset. Good news - the alarms & reminders are working a treat. No delay to pressing dismiss etc. Fantastic. Thanks to both awarner and squall for their input.
