Guest scaffster Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 i bought in good faith a e200 had everything..put in my orange sim worked fine.....it was unlocked put in my vodafone sim fine. the phone got a bit messy so i decided to hard reset, start fresh, and update new rom...crap suddenly no service appeared..phoned orange and to my amazement the phone is blacklisted but not by orange..they were a great help but couldn't give answer to why my phone is dead..its not vodafone!!so how can my phone be killed this way.. please help of mr foot has a date with e200... cheers
Guest zeta101 Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 who told you it was blacklisted? i dont think the phone has been blocked when it says no service...but also by trying a different sim from a different provider should solve the problem until it fixes itself...does it say no service for both your orange and vodsa sims?
Guest scaffster Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 yeah its dead...my contract orange sim and pay as you go sim it wont work????the phone wont dial it says no service.....looking to re unblock but i dont think that will help
Guest squall Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 id suggest reinstalling the latest update from the bootloader. Reason being is the rom can be corrupted beyond what a hard reset will fix, so reflashing the rom can repair the damage. I have had the same problem in the past, and this worked for me.
Guest scaffster Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 have re-romed twice now still comes up with no service...i have put in another orange contract sim and it still says NO SERVICE if orange haven't blocked the phone who has???
Guest hotphil Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Forgive me for stating the obvious, but following the resets/flash, you have taken it to an area of known good reception?
Guest scaffster Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 yes there is a reception in this area (tnx were u taking the p...)cheers anyway. might think of rounding this up unless someone has an answer as i have been reading on other forums of people wanting to change imei numbers....I AM NOT ONE OF THESE PEOPLE...i have a valid problem to which we have spoken to orange who say that our phone has not been reported lost or stolen and other than the rom screwing the phone good and proper i would like to say thank you to all that participated... thanks however if i find an answer to this problem i will be posting all info so no-one else has the same problem
Guest martin Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 phoned orange and to my amazement the phone is blacklisted but not by orange An IMEI registered on the Orange network blocked another network :? Hmmm Check Settings-Telephony-Band Selection Make sure it's still set to GSM/DCS. Check Settings-Telephony-Networks. Make sure it's set to Automatic. Also try Menu, Select A Network and see which networks it finds. If Vodafone appears try and select it.
Guest scaffster Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 thanks martin...i have not long contacted the seller.. it appears that the person who sold this thought that they could sell the whole kit, foldaway keyboard and all, still undercontract and THEN TELL THEM THEY LOST IT and expect orange to simply give them a new one and keep our money...... thankfully the seller has said they will give us a full refund, and if possible sort the problem out. No moral to the story as the phone was legit..but i would say that if people do buy a phone from ebay even if everything is legitimate i would maybe ask for the imei number to ask orange if this number has been rerported as stolen/lost........ you could say don't hand out that info but if you are the winner and hey the average prices have to be around 200 pound before sending the money ask....if they wont give details????? again thanks to everyone..
