Guest wwwwww Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 hi all i hope you can help me i must be doing something wrong. when i close ie on my phone the gprs active icon stays above the signal strength bars. i have tried pressing the end call key but this does not end the session, if i press it any more than very briefly it just locks the keypad! what should i be doing? Guest Disco Stu Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Firstly, you don't really need to shut down GPRS since you only pay for what you download. It's sold as an "always connected" service. You don't say which phone you have, but on the E200 if you press and hold the Home button you get a quick menu which includes Disconnect GPRS, if it bothers you !
Guest squall Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 if its the spv / e100 hold down the end call button
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Ohhhh can I join in please ;) The mpx200 is the same as the E100SPV :D But from the description above it sounds like the E200
Guest wwwwww Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 thanx for the help, it is an e200 and I was just concerned that it might be affecting battery life which is approx 1 day on standby at the moment. How do I check the ROM version as it is a brand new phone (so will it need the "improved battery life etc etc" rom upgrade offered by orange)? I hope so 'cos if it already has improved battery life then it mustv been reeaally bad before. Sorry for the poor description I was a bit hungover this morning!! Also I wasn't aware I had posted twice, I only wrote/posted once.......! Cheers
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 I don't think it'll have that much effect on battery life. The E200 is notoriously poor for that. Go to Settings, 5 About for the ROM version info (Manufacturer)
Guest wwwwww Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Ok settings, 5 ROM update versions Operator:1.1.1.4 Manufacturer:1.6.0.0 Does this need updating or am I stuck with a phone which dies after one phone call?
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 Well then dubdub, that's the $64,000 question :? I wouldn't do the upgrade but some have and are happy. For the full discussion, go here : http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=106237 BTW that must have been a very long phone call... Did you do a proper initial charge ?
Guest wwwwww Posted April 30, 2004 Report Posted April 30, 2004 I followed the advice from orange and did approx 5 hrs of charge initially (they recommend 4). The e.g. was an extreme 1 but if I use it at all the batt does not last much more than two to three hours and i darent try to play mp3 as it wont last any time at all Posted from my SmartPhone! (which is plugged in!)
