Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 In the name of progress I found a rom image that claimed to have the following. The Globe COOKED ROM update for Smartphone 2002 Enhancements: Rom Version 1.61 Enhanced Battery Life Enhanced Menu Speed Enhanced Graphics Speed Enhanced Signal Reception Tweaked UI Tweaked PIE Tweaked WMP Tweaked Application Unlocked Network Unlocked 8MB Free Memory Do not try this rom as it appears to be a phone killler. I have played with countless roms upgradingdowngrading etc to test for people but this little number installs 100% then on rebooting the phone one dead phone :D/ So watchout for this rom unless you want a nice paperweight ;)
Guest Vector Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 :? is your phone completely unrecoverable now? :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Yep it is a nice shiny paperweight now :D
Guest martin Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Just sell it on EBAY like everyone else :D As a trendy paperweight of course ;) jokes aside ... Sorry to hear you lost your phone  I'm sure you have saved others the heartache.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 OMG! Win-powered paperweight. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Lopio Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 oh maybe the rom is half cooked, sorry to hear that Awarmer, atleast u save other people. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest kalinte Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 hmmm i think i've heard of that rom before........sorry about your phone. but now you have a cool paperweight.
Guest zeta101 Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 :D you can always try and sell it on ebay or on here for spare parts etc instead of letting it sit as a paper weight
Guest xavierjohn22 Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Hmmmm, I wöndér whåt pårt i wöuld wånt? Thänks för säving a löt öf phöné äwärmér, léssön för éveryöné nöt tö övércöökéd yöur röm. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest squall Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 sorry to hear that ash. what phone? you selling or collecting spares? would buy for right price :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 hehehehe my phone lives again :D/ ;)/ :lol:/ My thanks go to member Kondor who helped me revive my phone even though it would not power on. Using a complete back up of a spare phone on SD the E100 bootloader was kicked back into life. It did not replace the bootloader but revived it instead. After that I had to run an update to restore the phone back to a fully working E100 :P/
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 For those who want to know here is how I revived my phone. This may work for other types of dead phones as well :D I had a spare SPV with bootloader 0.93 Using a large SD card, in bootloader menu, select option 0. Save ALL Once you have done this and it shows passed, put the card in the dead SPV. Now press and hold the record button while pressing the power button. You should see Card Found and the canary screen displayed. Now you have the bootloader back and working you can run any update to bring your phone fully back to life.
Guest kalinte Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 so there is life after death after all. sorry for those who sold thier dead SPV as scrap.
Guest BrAGoL Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 thanks for the info Awarner!:D at least you revived your phone... Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest JaToAc Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 i myself have a dead spv (due to a wrong gone update)... i can't switch it on or get into the bootloader by pressing record and power button... did you have the same dead spv, or could you fire it up in the canary screen? i would love to have my spv back...
Guest xavierjohn22 Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 Löng Livé thé SPV! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest kondor Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 i myself have a dead spv (due to a wrong gone update)... i can't switch it on or get into the bootloader by pressing record and power button... did you have the same dead spv, or could you fire it up in the canary screen? i would love to have my spv back... -> If you hear a very little blow when you power on few seconds, you may repair it I think. Check if your battery is full as well. sorry for my accent cos I'm french :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 did you have the same dead spv, or could you fire it up in the canary screen? The phone would not fire up in the Canary screen until I put the SD card with the full back up in the phone. Working with Kondor I was going to use winhex but decided against it because the 0.93 bootloader enables you to do a full backup of the phone and in my opinion is safer than using Winhex.

Hmmm...never knew that...cheers ash ;) Bit unfortunate you don't have a trendy paperweight anymore tho
Guest Pondrew Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Also bit unfortunate for all those people who had dead phones before and either binned them or gave them away!
Guest Panja Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Great info! Nice to hear the phone is running again! Cheers
