pretty cool, the trial is quite limited, cant type anything or press mouse buttons and it only lasts something like a minute before you have to restart. Heres modaco:

(the colours are a bit weird cos of using the activesync viewer, the colours on my phones screen looks quite good!)

just bought this - not half bad. certainly the best aviable and capable of what i want.

keyboard entry seems a bit random - no T9 as far as i can gather - and no way to go back, other than delete (so entering ip's is hell as . and numbers are on a different section)

wouldnt have minded a landscape option or a fit to screen option (especially with landscape)

also the docs are in word format (which is a pain as i dont have office)

but, overall, its a pretty swish app.

Why do we need to pay for this :?:

All the other VNC products (not just SmartPhone) are free under the GNU public license and they have just as much work put into them if not more :x

Great app with many functions, but I think it could be cheaper...

Great with a built in net monitor and the ability to save settings in different profiles, like one for gprs, one for W-Lan and one for bluetooth.

I bought this software few weeks ago from handango and I think it's really impressive. With my Italian Flat GPRS connection I can reach my pc very quickly and from wherever I am. I really love this program!

i just got it working over BT...

this yoyo is impressive :D

if only supported other res's and T9

(i HAVE to use landscape - it crashes when im in portraight mode which would suit it much better)

erm.. How did u get it working over BT? Did u have to switch the phone to Airplane mode?

Just connect to active sync over bluetooth and use that connection

i managed to get bluetooth working fine if you leave it in discoverable mode, use the home key to disconnect AND detactch gprs, set passthroo to work on 'work' connection, change pie to use work and not autodetect settings...then sync

when u wanna go back to gprs, go back to internet setting and re-enable the detect settings... u will need to activesync every time u go back to BT.

Or just bound with your computer and set internet connection to automatic and turn bluetooth on and then choose connect via bluetooth in active sync...

i do that and the phone still connects with GPRS.

If you put the phone in the cradle does it still use gprs?

If it does you have to allow a pass trough connection in the active sync options.

Can you manage to sync trough bluetooth?

yes it uses passthroo if i put in cradle. yes it syncs over BT. no, pass throo doesnt work if i leave it on internet and have passthroo set for internet.

2 questions:

1) Anyone know if the passwords are sent in clear text?

2) Does it work on the E100 - Documents only seem to point towards the E200 model, and makes no reference to any previous SPV range.

Theres no reason why it should be e200 only, and i beleive pw's are encrypted.

Im actually in email discussion with the author beating him up over the lack of potrait support (your pc cannot be in 768x1024 res - it MUST be 1024x768 even tho the former is more suited) and there is no t9 support.

seems like there is going to be another version to resolve at least some of these issues... so while its a very good app, i dont recommend buying it at the moment.

Hi

Thanks! I went to download it, and tried to establish a connection with my home PC from GPRS (using the E100). Sadly it does not work... it finds the host, sits there and then goes back to the Home Screen.

I tried to control a friends PC, and got a message authentication failed, even though I know the password is correct.

I was able to use the VNC Viewer from a Desktop PC to control my friends computer and it worked fine.... accepted the password. when on the E100, it still gives an authentication error.

Also, once a password is set on VNC Server, how do you change it?

Hi all,

Just responding to a few points:

> keyboard entry seems a bit random - no T9 as far as i can gather - and no way to go back, other than delete (so entering ip's is hell as . and numbers are on a different section)

The abc, ABC and 123 modes function exactly as they do for standard text entry on the Smartphone and your "back" button is backspace when entering text as normal. T9 text prediction is a facility we may add in future.

> (i HAVE to use landscape - it crashes when im in portraight mode which would suit it much better)

Version 1.2 (avaiable from Handango now and PocketGear soon) includes support for any reasonable screen aspect including portrait (eg. 480*640 etc.). Also the internal screen buffer size is now 1280 KiloPixels so screens at up to say 1280*1024 can be viewed without server-scaling if you like - and using server scaling a 1600*1200 screen can now be viewed at 800*600.

> erm.. How did u get it working over BT? Did u have to switch the phone to Airplane mode?

The new version (1.2) now automatically disconnects any GPRS connection if you opt to connect via local connection (Bluetooth/WiFi) so there is no longer any need to switch into flight mode etc. Of course to use PTvncS over Bluetooth you must connect to the server or a machine on the server's network using Bluetooth AND activate Activesync over BT.

> It wont work for me Everytime it says Authentication Refused. Connection Failed when usng BT and wont even connected over internet cos of my bloddy O2 sim. Grrrr

Please try again with version 1.2 - the password entry is now better for avoiding errors.

> Anyone know if the passwords are sent in clear text?

VNC passwords are encrypted

> Does it work on the E100 - Documents only seem to point towards the E200 model, and makes no reference to any previous SPV range.

Is the E100 WCE2002 ? If so it will work. If it's WCE2000 then try the trial version of PTvncS to see if it will work (I think it should do)

> seems like there is going to be another version to resolve at least some of these issues... so while its a very good app, i dont recommend buying it at the moment

Updates are going to continue to the currently available version so there's no need to wait before buying - any updates afterwards can be downloaded for free from where you initially bought the program.

> Also, once a password is set on VNC Server, how do you change it?

Either from "Start" on your PC go to Programs:PTeSVNC:Server:WinVNC User Settings

or just right-click on the WiinVNC icon on your taskbar and select "Properties".

Please note that if you can't read the "doc" manual then please read the "txt" version.

Note that version 1.2 is now compatible with VNC servers that do not support server-scaling so you can now connect to versions of "Real"VNC, TightVNC etc. This should make it possible for users of Macs, Unix, Linux etc. to find a VNC server compatible with PTvncS.

bye
