Guest Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Hi All I know there is a Word viewer for the SmartPhone from ClearVue but it seems to only view documents. Is there any software out there that you can edit and then save in Word format?, even if it's only basic text with some formating? I assume ClearVue's software can read Word 2003?, it's bound to be able to if it can read Word 2000 and 2002.
Guest Vector Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 As far as i know there is NO word editor for Smartphone, only the viewer as you say ;) There is orneta notepad tho, which is like a mobile version of notepad on the pc if you want to make notes etc. :D
Guest Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Is it plain text only? You'd think considering the SPV (original) has been out at least 12 months now (nearer 18 months) they'd have released one buy now. You'd also think it is one of the most sought after applications. Microsoft have released Pocket Streets, why not this? Thanks btw
Guest Palindrome Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I have this vision that when the first Word or Excel editor is release the sales for that product will be akin to the riots you see on the opening day of the January sales.
Guest Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 LOL true. I can't believe there isn't one already.
Guest Vector Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Well there is a thread in the "Main" forum where Brody is taking suggestions for what program he should make for Smartphone :D i have already requested and excel/word editor, but the more requests, the more likely he will make that ;)
Guest Vill Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 I know that each one of us have our own uses for our smartphones, however in my opinion, editing word files on my phone is a hassle. Small screen, typing is slow...So unless its for very small editing, I would not do it on my Phone. A viewer is pretty much all I need. If I needed to edit a long document, I would do it with my computer or my PDA. Just a thought... Ryvil
Guest Palindrome Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 If you're talking about editing word files using the phone's keypad then I agree, that is a hassle. I use my E200 with the keyboard which affords a much better use of a potential Word app.
Guest Vill Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Oh yeah. I totally forgot about the keyboards available for the Smartphone. The small screen is still a downside to editing documents though. Too much scrolling involved. But to each his own... :) Ryvil
Guest Palindrome Posted May 10, 2004 Report Posted May 10, 2004 Yeah, I really would like to Page Up/Down, Home and End buttons on the SPV keyboards. Hope this new bluetooth keyboard has them.
