Hi all

How can I store lists of contacts, emails and tasks in SD card instead of phone memory?

Is there any software can do that?

Thanks.

they are stored in the system databases, i don't know of a way of moving them over.

I tried it before: switching path of mxip_initdb.vol to Storage Card. I was able extract a copy of the .vol file from my IPSM, placed it in Storage Card then did some registry adjustments.

The only 'serious' consequence of the trick was my phone doesnt sync anymore to my PC...I have to switch the path back to IPSM everytime I need to sync.

Hi riki,

It worked only after I messed up with my clog.db. hehehe. :D

After extracting the mxipinitdb.vol, I had a clog.db error on a phone reboot...hard reset sorted it.

Just thé sämé, almöst i guéss, fröm my judgemént.

Önly döwnsidé is whén yöur löw batt or clöse tö löw batt.

Säme as putting cemail.vol thing tö sd you nöw.

Same inbox loading speed and inserting contacts (To: field) when composing an SMS message is not affected.

Another 'downside' I've noticed is that your call history (dialled numbers) record remains empty even if you made phone calls plus the absence of contacts filter whenever you press keypads (while in homescreen).

What I consider good about the path switching trick is that you wont worry about a 'growing' mxipinitdb.vol file size in your IPSM since the database is already in your SD.

Hi pzee,

Could you pls show me how to do the following steps? Thanks.

1. switching path of mxip_initdb.vol to Storage Card. I was able extract a copy of the .vol file from my IPSM, placed it in Storage Card then did some registry adjustments.

2. I have to switch the path back to IPSM everytime I need to sync.

I'm not sure if this will work for you. I tried this on my e100 unit running SmartROM 1.3.7.8

DISCLAIMER

I will not be responsible for the damage whatsoever this trick might cause your phone. Do this at your own risk.

This is how I did it:

1. Using PHM RegEditor, I looked for mxip_initdb.vol. Its in HKCU-Software-Microsoft-Windows , pressed Values then saw DbPath then LangDbPath.

2. Highlighted DbPath then pressed Action button...I saw Value name: DbPath and Value data: IPSMmxip_initdb.vol

3. I changed IPSM to Storage Card ... making the new Value data: Storage Cardmxip_initdb.vol

4. I exit PHM RegEdit then made a phone reboot. *

5. I opened SmartExplorer, moved to directory IPSM then copied mxip_initdb.vol to a folder in my Storage Card (My Documents).

6. I opened PHM Registry Editor then moved to the same path as in Step 1.

7. I changed the DbPath value to Storage CardMy Documentsmxip_initdb.vol then exit PHM after.

8. I made a phone reboot...my mxip_initdb.vol was then saved in my SD.

-------

*My phone had a clog.db error on my second attempt.

Note that you cannot modify, delete, copy-paste a file when the phone is using it...you have to trick your phone by registry tweaking.

-----

How I switch mxip path?

1. I wrote and compiled a cab file with 2 the following Value Data:

Cab 1- IPSMmxip_initdb.vol

Cab 2- Storage CardMy Documentsmxip_initdb.vol

2. I set the file attributes of the 2 cab files to 'Read Only'

3. I placed them on a folder in my Storage Card.

4. I made shortcuts (.lnk) to each cab then placed them in my StartMenu folder.

Cab 1- Mxip to IPSM.lnk

Cab 2- Mxip to SD.lnk

When I want to sync I just click on Mxip to IPSM.lnk

If you can't copy-paste mxip, try to consider the ROM version when I did these tricks. :)
