Big problem with back button / delete key

Ok i'm having a really wierd problem with my E200. Whenever I'm typing anything, and I hit the "back" key to delete the last letter, it goes off on one and tries to delete the whole message, a letter at a time! Obviously this is a pain in the ass, I can only stop it deleting the whole message by hitting the joystick quickly.

Its doing it whenever I'm typing anything, whether its a message, an email address, a searchbar on the internet.

Can anyone help??

sounds like the button is getting stuck down or something :?

Or it maybe a software fault in the OS which can be fixed by a hard reset, have you tried a hard reset?

no i've never done a hard reset, i'll give it a go.

do you lose anything when you do one???

yes, you lose everything you have installed and all the files on the phone, but the files on your SD Card will remain intact, so back up any important things off the phone first :!: :D

Not so sure a hard reset fixes this problem. I have had the same problem for about a month now, and other than pulling the whole thing apart, i've tried everything including several hard resets to no avail!!!

Im really confused as I don't think its the actually key, but it doesn't seem to be affected by resetting the software either!!!

Has anyone got any ideas???

I had the exact same thing and also the 4 key did the same and I got loads of 'i' s on a text message. Got fed up after 2 days and called orange. The replaced it next day under waranty. Bit of a pain but thats the only solution I think. :x

Hi, so i'm also facing this problem.

But i've noticed it's not only when typing text. also happened to me on the start menu.

I'm using the latest qtek rom, and i've already made several hard-resets and always happens randomly.

I had a phone replaced under orange care because of this problem, i was told at the time it was due to excess pressure on the red "end call" button, but I only got the problem after installing the update. I have since been told by Orange that it wasn't excess pressure but an actual Data fault with the phone. I don't know whether to believe them or not but it would be worth you guys ringing 150 and reporting it as an issue. HTH

i'm having the same problems but with the start/unlock soft key.everytime i press it the start/unlock box lights up but stays lit!!! if i push the joystick it goes onto the next menu, this seems to happen wether i'm on the home screen or any other(e.g. pressing to send a text).its really annoying is a replacement the only cure? :?

Had the same problem with the down key and the "4ghi" key... had my handset replaced and it now works a treat! Know others though who are on their 3rd due to this problem!!! :)

Still not sure if it's an OS problem or hardware problem???

I've got exactly the same problem as you. Whenever I hit the back button, it would get stuck and keep on going back till i hit another key. I got a replacement as I only used the phone for a day. Apparently, they told me it was a keypad prob. Seeing from what everyone is saying, I think it's quite a common prob in this phone.
