Guest Brody Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Sounds interesting!? Last resort is a hard reset unless anyone else has any ideas? Have you confirmed that the SIM still accepts/makes calls in another phone?
Guest squall Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 could be you have slipped onto line two, or onto the wrong band. Line 2 To check this goto settings go to SettingsTelephonyCall Options then select line one Or Programs > Settings > Telephony > Band Selection. should be GSM/DCS dual band for uk
Guest martin Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Oh dear. Sounds like Orange have barred the phone :D Type *#o6# to get the IMEI number and speak to Orange again. Explain your situation and ask them to confirm that the number is barred. I'm sure it is though. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest squall Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 is it normal to be able to send sms on a barred phone?
Guest marcledger Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 phone is on right band and is on line one???? orange wont check it out cos i have not got a orange sim in it?
Guest marcledger Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 have done a hard reset and tryed updating os, still no good?
Guest martin Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 We had exactly the same problem in a previous thread . Orange bar the IMEI after which you will be denied access to their network from that particular phone. You can still use a Vodaphone SIM but you will barred from making voice calls although other services are still accessable. Have you asked Vodaphone if they can check the IMEI with Orange ? Guest marcledger Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 does this mean my phone is dead forever, or can it be fixed?
Guest martin Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 That depends if you are still in contact with the person who sold you the phone as Orange will only deal with them. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest marcledger Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 hello, have just spoke to vodafone and they checked out the IMEI number and told me that it's on the black list! why would someone sell me a spv over 7 months ago and then report it stolen? does this mean i have a dead phone? p.s. i still have the persons name and address on email, what can i do now?
Guest martin Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 It could be unintentional. Sometimes people sell their phone and dont inform their network provider so when they lose their SIM their network provider blocks both the SIM and its associated IMEI (from their records) which is your phone. If you contact the seller they might be able to sort it out for you. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest marcledger Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 have contacted the person i got the phone from and they have got orange to unblock it for me, it is now unblocked and i can still not ring in or out. HELP!!!!! i shall smash the thing in about two or three days.
Guest martin Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Can you get hold of an Orange SIM to try ? That would prove it. Maybe it takes time to complete the unblocking for other networks ? Sounds promising though. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest marcledger Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 yes mate, will try that tomorrow, finger's crossed. cheer's
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 It can take a fedw hours to reactivate the phone, I would call vodaphone againand ask them if the phone has been cleared rather than take the sellers word for it.
Guest marcledger Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 phone is now back to normal! i am now a happy man again! thanks for the help everyone.
