Guest wennock Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Now we have a megadrive program on smartphone what about see if we can get a mame type emulator for the smartphone, or is there one already and I have missed it???
Guest steverae Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 As far as i'm aware, they are no mame ports that run properly on Windows Mobile 2003 as yet, however a number of members including the great Spacemonkey (of pocket clive fame amougst other superb titles) has been working on it. Hope we here something soon, will be great to play arcade galaxian's, asteroids, defenda and such from one platform. I know these titles are available for the spectrum so you can play em through that but howay lads, how hard can it be to convert mamece3 to smartphone.....

Mame for Smartphone (or at an arcade emulator for Smartphone/PPC/P800 etc) might be more feasible now, because of the Cyclone 68000 emu I wrote for PicoDrive. Previously only old games (z80 based, 8080 based etc) could run fullspeed on ARM, but now 68000 games may run fullspeed too. as always see www.finalburn.com for more info
Guest Allotropic Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 mame on the smartphone would be excellent
Guest Skilty Posted May 12, 2004 Report Posted May 12, 2004 Fdave - would you be able to work on Mame for the Pocket PC/Smartphone? After your excellent work with Pico Drive i'm sure there would be plenty of Modaco members who would gladly pay for a decent Mame emulator.
Guest peekie Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 even though a mame emu would be great to have it would make our midnight go bold :) mainly because of the games who would pay for a smartphone game clone of streetfighter when you can play the original ? mame will be here soon as the makers of mame32 are also looking into expanding into the pocketpc/smartphone market
Guest Taoski Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 Cool cool cool cool.... most excellent news... i can't wait!
Guest beersoft Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 now all i need is 30gig of storage so i can carry my completed mame rom set around with me :) anyone want to make a lightgun for smartphone? later Owen
Guest midnight Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 peekie? you are telling people not to buy Kumite? out of order m8, we havent even released the thing yet and you are encouraging people to not buy it, oh and encouraging people to illegally download a rom aswell For a start: a) it isnt a clone of streetfighter, it will play VERY differently (its more like an enhanced IK+) :) we are using Smartphone technology, now some slow emulation, so will get the best out of the phone technically, graphically and sonically c) we'll have blutooth multiplayer d) we'll make better use of the controls, especially for e200 owners just think before you make comments like that
Guest goinnuts Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 @ midnight reading again i dont peekie meant dont buy it, it was more if a mame port was released it would give you a slight bit of comp. bluetooth multi rocks. and i'm sure he wasnt trying to put people of buying it, as its the most anticipated thing since your next homescreen. :)
Guest retro Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 where did peekie hear that the developers of mame are looking into Pocket PC and Smartphone. There is nothing in the Official Mame forum... Retro
Guest agent.m Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 peekie? you are telling people not to buy Kumite? out of order m8, we havent even released the thing yet and you are encouraging people to not buy it, oh and encouraging people to illegally download a rom aswell For a start: a) it isnt a clone of streetfighter, it will play VERY differently (its more like an enhanced IK+) :) we are using Smartphone technology, now some slow emulation, so will get the best out of the phone technically, graphically and sonically c) we'll have blutooth multiplayer d) we'll make better use of the controls, especially for e200 owners just think before you make comments like that International karate + is a classic game which like you say is very different. Its like comparing fifa to sensi soccer. Its the only fighting game i bothred to master (round house + low kick dealdly combo)
Guest Vector Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 And the gfx on Kumite look just lurrrrvly :) Seriously tho, imo i don't think any mame port will be able to compete against kumite, judging by the quality of eclipse
Guest peekie Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 NO midnight i was not telling people not to buy your game the point i was trying to make is it will make it harder for small developers like yourself to compete with the emus which offer free roms. you sound abit worried by your reaction and you don't have to be yet.... whats a shame is there are many games out there which are just clones where are the original games seems easy to copy than to create these days .eclipse is a good game and should sell well but the other is a small market i think but i wish you the best on that    coming next another attack from midnight or someone else :)
Guest midnight Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 as its the most anticipated thing since your next homescreen funny you should mention that :) anyhoo, if i misunderstood what peekie said i apologise, but it certainly sounded as though he meant 'why bother paying for kumite when theres an emulator with streetfighter for free (cough) on it', and with that i had to post why kumite will be so much different to streetfighter
Guest peekie Posted May 13, 2004 Report Posted May 13, 2004 i would NEVER say NOT to buy a game but download a pirate product instead , as i support smaller companies which mostly spend more time making good games and normally give good support in return for the money , one thing is that the makers of emus don't give that support at all and that is also one big difference as well , better get back onto the original topic
Guest Stomski Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Mame for Smartphone (or at an arcade emulator for Smartphone/PPC/P800 etc) might be more feasible now, because of the Cyclone 68000 emu I wrote for PicoDrive. Hold on... Are we forgetting something here? The Commordore Amiga 500 series had a 68000 in it too. Is it feasible for an Amiga Emulator aswell?
Guest midnight Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 urk, i doubt it, Amiga had stacks of custom chips in it, even the PC struggles at some amiga stuff at low processors, maybe if they make a 500mhz smartphone :)
Guest Stomski Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Oh well :) Actually thinking about it, the Amiga chips had loads of weird code names like Susan and Jessica. Rumour was that this was so that the hardware team could discuss progress without risk of leaking information. Not really relevant to this forum though. I'll go now, bye.
