I've had my E200 for just over 2 months now. I plugged my phone in to the charger last night and this morning the battery's dead. The phone doesn't look like it's charging at all. The orange light comes on when the charger's plugged in but that's about it. I've finally managed to get the phone to boot up with the charger plugged in and there's no sign of the battery taking any charge. I've also tried using the USB docking station and no difference there.

Anyone had this problem before and manage to get it sorted???

I've not taken out any Orange after care with this phone so I a bit p!ssed off at the moment. I've looked at the website where I got the phone from and they say that the warranty for the SPV is managed by Hayes. Anyone had anything repaired by them?

Thx in advance

ring orange cust services, sounds like a fault (still should be covered by the standard 12 month warranty).

Hayes no longer look after HTC phones, as a company called HTC-uk or something now do... i've got teh number somewhere..

Is there such a thing as "standard 12 month warranty" with Orange anymore? It looks like unless you take out Orange care at £5 a month, Orange will not replace the phone for you and the only thing you can do is use the manufacturer's warranty.

Orange Care sounds like a big con to me :D

don't quote me :? but a phone that won't charge does not seem fit for the purpose you bought it for. therefore Orange must assist you in either making the phone fit for purpose, or replace it?

I'm still trying to get to the bottom of whether the problem lies with my phone or the battery.

I've managed to get my phone to power up with the charger connected (most of the time it will not boot up). The orange light is lit and the icon in the top right shows the phone as charging. However, when I remove the battery, the icon does not change - the manual shows that there is a battery missing icon but this does not show.

Can anyone confirm if this icon appears when they have the phone on charge and the battery is removed?

Also, does anyone have any ideas about how I can confirm if the phone or the battery is at fault? I don't know anyone else with an E200 to check.

Cheers

the icon means that the phone is using a/c power not the battery. (from wince).. leave the phone off and on charge a bit longer.. lights are good!

I left it plugged in to the charger for about 8 hours yesterday whilst it was switched off but no change. When I try and switch it on it gives the sunset screen and then either powers off or reboots 3 or 4 times before switching off. The orange light will flicker on and off during this time but very rarely will the phone boot up normally.

Totally frustrated :D

ok well if it was me, i would try to charge in bootloader screen, hold down the camera button and power on (while on charge etc) leave in 3 color mode for 5 hours and see what you get..

Let us know how you get on.

Still no joy. Battery doesn't get warm or anything. :)

[EDIT]

Actually, now that I've had a little more time to play with it, the phone managed to boot up off the battery but managed to last about a minute. During this time the light flashed yellow (or green) until the battery died. When I booted the phone up again, the battery meter showed that the battery was fully charged (although it obviously isn't) and then died again.

Update: Took the phone in to an Orange shop and tried the trainer's battery in my phone - it went dead so it looks like the phone's knackered. Also my battery seemed fine in his phone so it looks like all the hours I've left it connected it to the charger have charged the battery after all.

Looks like it's off to TRS for repair :)
