Guest pizdyetz77 Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Mine does & it's a real pain in the ar*e having to look at the phone upside down when connecting via IR. I'm sure some have figured this out already, but I think I'm being dead clever all the same: Place a small mirror facing your laptop's IR port and point your phone at the mirror. Hey presto - the beam bounces off the mirror and you can actually look at your phone the right way up. All you need now is a small mirror :D GH
Guest Will Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 anyone tried using lightpipe to bend it around.. don't have any handy to test..
Guest Will Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 er it was not meant to be.. i've seen those fibre pipes, (in maplin today).. and they sprung to mind? i guess they work with infra red? Will
Guest pizdyetz77 Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 Ok. Sorry then. Must be my time of month. Do you have a link to the stuff in Maplin? GH
Guest Will Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 it's code XR56L (not sure if this will work, but looks like fun!)
Guest pisquee Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 You shouldn't need a mirror even, I had an IR port that I fitted into my desktop, the easiest place being (due to cable length and PC case) was the back - my old nokia 7110 and 6210 and palm pilot managed to just bounce IR off the wall while sitting ontop of the PC unit facing the wall.
Guest Maverick Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Hmmm.. I bet ur laptop is a Toshiba ;-) .. Mine is a Compaq and it has the ir port on the side on the CD/DVD combo drive. Update: oops.. All bets are off now
Guest PritenC Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I've got a Toshiba and the IR port is on the side!
Guest pizdyetz77 Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 How much are you willing to bet exactly?
Guest PritenC Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Maverick is implying that all toshibas have the IR port on the back, Mine has it on the opposite side to the CD-RW/DVD and the SD Card reader. Even my old Satelite or VAIO never had teh IR port at the back Perhaps a different model - so you can communicate between laptops with the person sitting infront of you rather than beside you!
Guest pizdyetz77 Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I see . . . . Mine's an AJP 3420. Don't imagine that'll mean much to anyone but there we go. GH
