So I was just reading Microsoft's page in their MSDN library about customizing the home screen .xml file for Smartphone 2002's.

I took the Simple layout and changed it around to add-in the MRU to fit my liking, and just generally tailored it to my preferences.

However, the layout keeps getting screwed up. I have the MRU set to 32 for icon size, yet I only see half the icons.

Everytime I think I have the hang of how the items are ordered, and where they fit in, I change something, and it gets severely screwed up.

How do I know which attributes to use to precisely place each element on my homescreen, exactly how I want it?

How many icons are you after? Try specifying an mru icon-size of 16 and see how that goes.....then read the excellent XML homescreen tutorials available on this site.

I was only after displaying 4 icons, since I use a lot of the same apps all the time. I could try size 16, but I think it also might have something to do with the height attribute when declaring a plugin. I could be wrong though.

Thanks for the tips on the tutorials.

Well now yer talking. If you want the same 4 icons of your choice to always appear on your homescreen, irrespective of what apps you've been using, then get the RJShortcut plugin and tailor the XML to your needs. There are links here in this very forum - just look around.

I'd recommend his other two plugins as well. A nice little analogue clock and tasks plugins - top stuff!
