Guest The Verger Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I currently have the first SPV and I'm looking to change it for something new. I love the microsoft operating system on this phone and would like to keep using it. At this current time the only two phones I can find that run this operating system are the Motorola MPx200 and the SPV E200. Which one do i go for? Or do I wait until the new MPx220 or MPx100 comes out? Or is there other phones that run this system that I'm not aware of? I thank you in advance for you help and advise and appolgise if this has been answered else where on this forum.
Guest Vector Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 they are the only two phones out in UK.... Depends if you want the built-in camera, Windows Mobile 2003 and bluetooth really, if you're not bothered about those then get the MPx200 as it's cheaper :) the MPx100 is suppose to be released sometime in Q4 2004 i think...and as far as the MPx220 goes nobody really knows much about that
Guest siu99spj Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Oooh now THATS a question thats impossible to answer! It really depends on what you want and when you want it. For now, the main contenders are as you said, the MPx200 and the E200. The E200 is on the 2003 OS, an integrated camera and has bluetooth. Well, they're the main features that are different from the original SPV (I'm sure someone else could bore you with all the specs if you asked politely). The MPx200 however, runs on 2002, the same as the original smartphone. However, it does have an integrated camera and a faster processor (Again, I'm sticking to the significant points). Its also a clamshell design (Folds in half) if that rocks your boat. So, what of the MPx220. Well, if it ever appears (Its not been officially confirmed AFAIK), it'll basically be an MPx220, with bluetooth and 2003 OS. Me being the idiot is eagerly awaiting it, even though I could have upgraded last December! The MPx100 (Which has really tempted my fancy after seeing at the Modaco meet) is unique for a couple of new features. Firstly its keypad is a full qwerty one (Though I imagine its a nightmare to use) and the screen can be used in landscape or portrait mode. And its not too big as well (Look at my pics from the Modaco meet). But as to which ones best or worst, it really depends on what you want, not what some person tells you is cool. [EDIT: Damn you speed typing DavidRM (I refuse to call you Vector on principal!)]

Sorry to correct but the MPX200 does not have a camera (only a plug in type with new contracts) and it has the same processor as the E200, the main differance is that it can run faster because it has a larger memory cache and that does make a difference. The MPX200 gets my vote :) when the new phones are released that may be another matter.
Guest bosshogg2003 Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Hi, I had an MPX200 for around two weeks, it was a great phone and did not let me down until I had to make or receive a call as the signal was rubbish. It was replaced with an E200 and I was not bothered about the new 2003 os, Bluetooth or camera. However I find that I do use the camera for those must take now pictures and the signal strength is much better. If you want reliability, I think the MPX200 is better but to make calls (why you have a mobile) the E200 wins all the time.
Guest The Verger Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Thanks for the help gents. I'm still unsure which one to go for. Price isn't a problem as they are both free on the tariff I'm on. So like you say it boils down to wither or not I want bluetooh and a camera or not. I think I might just wait until the MPx220 comes out.... if it ever does.
Guest Vector Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 The MPx100 will probably be out before the MPx220 and it has 1.3mp camera with flash, the E200 has a VGA camera which is 640x480.. :)
