Guest vulkan Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 hi all, im intending to buy the xphone but thru my thorough investigations from this site. i've decided tat this phone is crap. n i now intend to get the nokia 6230. but still im willing to listen n give ur suggestions on these two phones. although both phones are different one is a smartphone n the other one is well....... juz a phone. my main purpose for these phones is to play mp3 & surfing. (other than calls & sms of course) camera quality isnt a issue. as my powershot s50 can kick both their a**es. ive read xphone specs rocks. it can play avi, wma. can play n entire movie on the phone if the mem card is large enough its the size n weight i dont like. n ive read abt issues of the batt etc. hoping the future rom updates will correct them if i really get this phone, but is it worth it? whereas ive heard 6230 probs r quite minor its the screen size tats i dont like. oooh how i wish theres a phone with xphone functions n 6230 size with bigger screen. im seriously considering your suggestions so pls help.
Guest chrisc28 Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 To make things much easier, let's summarise this. The Xphone is a Smartphone device. A Smartphone device allows for unlimited possibilities (via applications) and various customization options. It is certainly more flexible in its platform compared to the Nokia 6230, which is a multimedia phone using proprietary manufacturer software. The Nokia 6230, however advanced its built-in features are at the current moment, has no room for expansion via more advanced applications (notwithstanding Java). If you do not like customizing your phone and installing various applications that expands the phone's function, then the Nokia 6230 is perfect. But if you do, the Xphone will never fail to impress. I, for one, found that Smartphone's imperfections in itself attracted me to the platform. It is, after all, the most well-developed platform for convergence devices.
