Guest A.Hughes Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Couldnt believe my eyes, but apparentely not ready yet for smartphone, although their site says that it is,,,,a bit confusing to say the least Flash player for Microsoft Smartphone May 06, 2004 [MS Smartphone] It is available already (!) on some models and coming in July 2004 to other models. What is "Flash player"? It is a player that can execute programs (some people call them "multimedia presentations" and yet other people call t hem "Flash animations") written in special Flash format. Having Flash player for Microsoft smartphone can become big breakthrough for this platform because "Flash animations" are actually scalable (in most cases it is vector graphics, not bitmaps!) and available in big amounts everywhere (many online games that run inside of regular Internet browser in PC are based on Flash technology)... No, unfortunately the creator of Flash - the Macromedia company still hasn't released a Flash player for Microsoft smartphone, but another company relesed similar player for Dopod 515 already (see here for related story). What is it? It is so called "Mobiclip" - a program that can run "*.mo" files. With help of a converter one can convert also Flash file format *.swf to *.mo format and use it in Microsoft Smartphone!!! To read more about Mobiclip click here. According to German Smartphone-Web.com website since July 2004 the Mobiclip player will be also available for other Microsoft smartphones: Orange SPV, Orange SPV E100, Orange SPV E200, MiTAC Mio8380, Samsung i-600, Motorola MPx200. Despite the fact that former marketing chief of Microsoft mobile devision now works for Macromedia (the creator and owner of Flash technology) we still don't have official Flash player for Microsoft smartphone, so this 3rd part solution in the form of Mobiclip player can be a good substitute... http://www.mobiclip.com/about.php
Guest zeta101 Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 mobiclip has been out for quite a while now, news item doesnt make sense really, thats msmobiles for ya though.
Guest A.Hughes Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Thats what i thought, i think they are trying to communicate its compatability with the smartphone OS
Guest rcperez Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Mobiclip is a technology that allows playing animations, games and videos full screen at 24fps on any mobile phones with a TV-like picture quality, had they been first converted into the Mobiclip format (.MO). Source files can be .swf, .avi, .mov, .mpeg, .3gp, .mp3… and it all works on any network and any handset beginning at 16MHz! Its been released last year, but for reasons unknown they took out the MS Smartphone support off their rosters. Actually it's not a Flashplayer perse you need to convert the media into MO then you have to play it in the MobiClip Player on your smartphone. Not all flash contents could be converted im sad to say. If you want Flash for your smartphone better try and get the Flash Player for PocketPC Standalone Version which creates a standalone EXE from swf but comes with a hefty price $500 for a one year license.
Guest djboo Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 .mo isnt the only swf->smartphone friendly conversion system either. that also, has been around for a while (but the name escapes me) i wonder if msmobiles will ever have its own news (not stolen from elsewhere) that isnt just plain wank?
