Guest someone Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 Hello there! I really appreciate there's a SPV forum. I think it's very usefull. But why is everyone just so negative about the SPV? The people here only tell about problems, but there have to be some people who think positive about the SPV? The SPV can't only have bad things, there have to be some positive things about it? I mean, for example: Is it true that you can only work just 4 houres with the SPV? If you the phone on the standby mode, it will endure some longer, I think. Is it so poorly you can only take pictures while making an MMS? Remind the SPV is just a mobile phone, so be happy you CAN take a picture with it. And about the costs, after the 3 months free GPRS I don't think you will be online for a few houres a day. Cheking your mail and the latest news doesn't take a lot of kilobytes. But now I'm asking you: Do you advise me to buy an SPV or not, and why? Greetz and thanks meanwhile! :D
Guest Rolandrat Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 You have to remember that by definition newsgroups/forums are usually all about doom and gloom. I got my SPV yesterday and so far I have no complaints at all, one short call to 156 to say to the bloke "gprs and mms now please" and within 2 mins I was surfing and I sent a quick test piccy - job done, sync to my pc in seconds (installed active sync first) - job done. Stuck a piccy of caprice as the background - nice. MSN up and running - spooky! Installed a few games and all explorer - job done. All in all f'in marvalous bit of kit. Hint to new peeps - read this forum for at least a week before getting one, it's the only way. And if your still not happy, just think Santa might bring you something else - Happy Xmas! :D

GREAT phone Cheers, Shire
Guest someone Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 So all you people are positive about the SPV. That's nice. But what I really meant by my preceding post (maybe I wasn't clear enough, sorry for that) is: are the disadvantages set off by the advantages of the SPV? thank you and good luck with your SPV. :D
Guest Shire29 Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 OK, my previous post highlighted all the things I have done with my PSV, ooops I mean SPV. The main disadvantages are, poor battery life and certification of software. There are minor other irretations, like the back light going off while watching a movie, have to create a MMS message to take a photo etc. it still does what is asked just not the way we might expect it too. From what I have read a number of these issues will be resolved with updates early in the new year. Basically if u can put up with charging your battery once a day the phone is a great buy, however if you do a lot of travelling the battery life is kinda limiting. Cheers, Shire
Guest studiosonic Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Hopefully the new battery that comes out in Jan might go some way to giving longer usage times before charges. Anyone have any idea how much better the new battery will be to the current one?
Guest kevlar Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 ' 17) oh and I have also made some phone calls and written & sent sms ' I didn't realise this thing cam make phone calls too...... Kevlar
Guest Deako Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 Hopefully the new battery that comes out in Jan might go some way to giving longer usage times before charges. Anyone have any idea how much better the new battery will be to the current one? More importantly, will we have to pay a great deal of money for it?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted December 20, 2002 Report Posted December 20, 2002 It would be very nice if O could make a Lithium Polymer battery, the same size as the existing one, but higher capacity. This may even make it LIGHTER! Time will tell tho I guess... P
