Guest cdogg2000 Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 hey, wondering if any knows how to remove things from the "remove programs" control panel applet. reason i ask is that there are some programs that wont uninstall and wont remove from the list which means they cannot be reinstalled as ive tried. I even tried to go through the registry "hkey/security/appinstall" but for some reason i get an error that the action cannot be performed or something to that affect. any ideas?
Guest MPXtricky Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 if all else fails, HARD RESET will do what you want. But remember, you will then have the joy of re-installing everything!
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Perhaps you have an empty AppMgr folder (IPSMWindowsAppMgr). This is where a software's installation info is stored in the form of *.tmp file. You can no longer uninstall or even re-install an app when the .tmp file for that app is missing or no longer in the AppMgr folder. You should have backed up everything in your IPSM (system and personal data) using SPRITE BACKUP software. You don't have to re-install all your programs after a hard reset, all you have to do is let Sprite do the restore process for you. Posted from my SmartPhone!

Guest cdogg2000 Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 So other than hard reseting is there anyway to get these things out of there, like is there anyway to clear them out of the registry?
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 I haven't tried manual registry deletion. What I did before was I copied the .tmp file from a friend, placed it in my AppMgr folder then thats it...I was able to re-install a new version (thus old version was removed/uninstalled) I transfer (backup) my AppMgr folder to my computer as they take up a significant space in my IPSM. When I need to install a new version of a program, I just import the AppMgr folder entry of the software to my IPSM's AppMgr folder...cumbersome but effective. :) Posted from my SmartPhone!
