SPV E200 has stuck on 'Smart phone' screen? Any ideas?

My SPV E200 has just(all by itself) stuck itself on the following Smart phone screen:-

The phone will not respond to any buttons and I dont know what to do now?

1) Any ideas what has happened?

2) How bad is the damage? (if any)

3) What can I do to restore the phone?

try to do hard reset if you can get to canary screen so you can still save phone if hard reset don't help so you can go to canary screen connect phone to your pc and try to run update

No - those instructions in HARD RESET had NO effect! :)

Have you tried to pull out the battery and power on the phone?

If that doesn't work try to run the latest orange update. Plug phone into cradle with the three colour screen, bottom left should change to USB, run update.

Hmm - i cannot proceed with any of the steps included in the hard reset procedure!

What shall I try now? I pay Orange £5 a month insurance - shall I ring them up?

I have plugged it in and run active sync. The word 'serial' has now changed to 'USB' but the device will not connect via activsync :)

Battery removal time then............?

Right battery removal has sorted it and everything is now in working order!

1)download latest upgrade from ORANGE SITE

2)turn on your phone when you have tri color screen connect phone to computer

3)and run upgrade and follow instruction on screen

i have downloaded the update from the orange website

then proceeded to backup the existing data before installing the upgrade

installed it all but then the backup data had miraculously vanished from my pc where all the folders were empty!!!

it loooks like i have lost all my data now - is there ANY way of retreiving it?

If not could anyone tell me how to backup the phone data correctly for next time!

don't think there is anyway to retrieve it? :lol:

you can back things up using Sprite bacup (download in software forum) :)

check the recycle bin on the pc just incase they were deleted and put there..
