I can dial up to internet on my laptop using GPRS connection and E200 over bluetooth, however, what i would like to know is of any experiences using the same method and whether anyone can guide me on likely costs?

I would assume that using GPRS as the dial up i will be using up my orange world access GPRS bytes instead of additional call costs, ORA were not very helpful unfortunately.

Thanks in advance for any assistance guys, only tried it a couple of times to check that it works, it does, but i am a tad weary of costs!!!

Yeah, that will still be part of your Orange World GPRS pack :)

Remember that using your SPV as a modem for your PC to download FULL internet pages can eat into your MB's very quicky. It might still be worth accessing mobile versions of sites (on your laptop) where possible to get the most out of your GPRS package.

Also consider installing software on your laptop to monitor your total data transfer over the internet.

If you find you are using the SPV as a modem more frequently then have a look at the higher usage GPRS packs available.

Otherwise enjoy

Cheers Martin, will get hold of a traffic monitor for laptop and just keep track, dont use it all the time, but pretty damn useful when your out and about, lets hope the orange wifi package being trialled at the moment is good value for money.....thanks again m8, much appreciated. :-)

Can you advise how I can get my new E200 to let my XP laptop connect to the net over GPRS.

I have a belkin BT USB adaptor and can see the Phone and the phone can see the Laptop.

Im assuming that I'll need a windows xp modem driver - if so from where?

On my old Nokia 6310i I just dialed the number *99# and that was sufficient. With the E200 I can't even get a modem drive .

You can get the modem driver from www.monolithix.org (freeware section) :)

I use the same BT usb dongle, what you have to do is the following, after you have done your pairing

goto control panel, phone and modem options, hi-light the Bluetooth modem and press Properties Advanced tab and enter the following in the extra dial string commands box

at+cgdcont=1,"IP","orangeinternet"

Works first time!!
