Guest harshal Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 I had previously successfully flashed an O2 Xphone with the Orange updated ROM. Then I flashed the phone to the QTEK 8080 Rom. Now I want to go back to the Orange ROM. NO matter what I try I cannot flash it back to the ORANGE ROM. It always gives error '117: Incompatible image'. Any suggestions?

Guest fcuk Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Same problem met as u. I use E200, flashed from E200 rom 2.6.3.1 to Qtet 8080 1.7.10.4, can never go back again~
Guest Minimad Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Hi, It is possible to go back. I have done it myself. Had the E200 for 7 days and then the phone 'LOST' most of the Orange stuff & most of the menu's. Took it to an Orange shop and they told me just to load the update back on it. Decided to try the QTEK rom as I didn't have anything to lose & thought I would give it a try. Put it on then realising that I hadn't made a note of any of the orange settings, I decided to put it back to Orange. No matter what I did I just couldn't get it to accept the Orange Rom, pulling my hair out for most of the night. gave up & went to bed, next morning I tried this (this is actually how I got the phone to 'LOSE' itself in the first place). 1. Install PHM RegEdit v0.70 for smartphone 2. Export the HKey_Local_Machine branch to the phone with a filename of t (thats a single letter t). Reg Format WinCE 3. After 30 secs (give or take a bit) the phone will lock up. Leave for about 5 mins. 4. Take of the battery & leave for 30 secs or more 5. Boot into Canary mode. 6. The Orange Rom should now install without question Hope this helps I take no responsibility for any damage that this procedure may cause your phone, your PC, your life or anything remotely connected to you!!!, it worked for me (but scared the crap out of me that I turned my E200 into a paperweight). Guest Voivode Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Why did you want to change back your E200 Rom ? Is the Qtek 8080 better than the Orange Rom ?
Guest mikeyboy Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 XPhone now has its own new ROM out - I had mine updated over the weekend when it went in for repair because of sticking 4 key.
Guest hardcore Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 XPhone now has its own new ROM out - I had mine updated over the weekend when it went in for repair because of sticking 4 key. In Singapore the O2 service centers have had the new ROM for 1-2 weeks now. Seems the O2 new ROM is basically the same as the Qtek ROM 1.7.10.4.
Guest Minimad Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 I wanted to change back to the E200 ROM as I was thinking of taking it back. Can't really take it back with another operator's Rom on it. I'm interested to hear if my procedure works for anyone else if its just me. I liked the QTEK Rom as it had several extras that Orange missed, like the File Explorer, Space maker and the different MMS App. When someone comes up with a way of generating your own Rom like they have done with the XDA, I'll take bits from each. Does anyone have the new XPhone Rom as an upgrade package & not when its been for repair? Minimad

Minimad Tried your method twice, but both failed! Can u explain why do step 2 "Export the HKey_Local_Machine branch to the phone with a filename of t (thats a single letter t). Reg Format WinCE"?
Guest Minimad Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Well, Step 2 is how I got my E200 to 'LOSE' most of the files in the Rom the first time I did it. I can't really explain why it did it, just that it did. It either corrupted the rom or deleted the files as I couldn't access most of the start menu, keeped complaining the file didn't exist. Exporting the HKey_Local_Machine branch on My Phone causes it to Hang after about 30 secs. I just left it hanging for about 5mins then removed/replaced the battery & booted into canary mode. This allowed me to replace the QTEK Rom with the Orange one again. Nothing I tried before that would work. Just to confirm, I used PHM RegEdit v0.70 to export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE with the following settings: Name : t Folder : None Type : WinCE Registration Files Location : Main Memory This is how I solved the problem on my phone, you are the only other one who has tried it this way.
