:) Ive tried to install the 2.6.1.3 update on my mates e200 and and it keeps coming up with Error13: Update error.

Now I've spoken to OC and they have no idea what it means and the phone is dead with no insurance

It did stage 1 ok wiping the thing but it comes up with the message every time now.

Every thing was how it should be Mains connected ect.ect.ect. Tthe download of the update was flawless (15MB Took 2mins 10s on 1mb connection)

If anybody can help..you lot can  . This one is new to me. I've recovered loads of failed updates in the past.

The biggest regret is that it's my supervisors phone.

Have you tried all the usual methods? Run it from the tricolour screen, different USB port (not via hub) etc ...

I had a similar problem. Have you disconnected any firewall/anti virus software on your PC?

Are you using the latest version of ActiveSync - 3.7.1 - on your PC?? I seem to remember reading that it was necessary - may have been in the ROM Update "readme" file or on the Orange web site....

Apart from that, make sure nothing else is running on your PC while you do the update, including AV and firewall software - these things get in the way at the most inopportune moments, even though they're only trying to help!!

HTH

Thanks for the input guys, I've tried everything mentioned running from 3 colour screen turning off all virus protection. Not even Orange know what it stands for.

Anyway I did some serious cringeing at work when I saw my supervisors face light up :) when he saw me then deflated as I looked to the ground  .

So I was quite surprised when he said thanks for trying. Hhe's gonna ring Orange up tonight to sort it out.

I'll keep ya all informed incase this ever happens again

I had a similar problem on my two day old E200, the power cable came loose during the install, which then didn't complete (for some reason Orange says it must be charging all the time during the update). Now I get the same error message as you.

Basically they have told me my handset is dead and nothing can be done, even by them, to repair it. I cannot believe anyone would design such a crude handset that it destroys itself so easily! I tried all the things mentioned above but none of it has any impact.

Even though there is no insurance I think its their responsibility, for selling such a poorly designed piece of equipment that self-destructs so easily. They should at least warn you of the risk of of this happening on the update site. I talked them into sending out a free replacement anyway :-)
