Recover deleted sms

Hi All,

firstly a big Hello to everyone. =)

i hav a Qtek 7070 and recently trying to sync a brand new outlook database with the phone, ActiveSync deleted all my sms'es (even though i asked it to "combine" which means it shouldn't have taken just the blank outlook database as source of truth and wiped out the msg folders on my phone!)

anyhoo, though my phone displays no sms'es, i can still see the messages in cemail.vol - except that they r not in a human-readable format - clearly the messages are simply marked as deleted but not physically removed. i wonder if there's anyway to undelete these messages, or if anyone knows the format of cemail.vol so that i can manually extract the messages back out?

Firstly I didn't know that outlook synced SMSs - these should remain.

Start simple and have a look in the Deleted Items within outlook, if they are not there have a look at this thread to see if it's possible to backup / restore the cemail file

thanks a bunch ferret for the prompt response.

i see - so outlook doesn't sync sms'es......hmm...should've done more research on backing up data from my fone b4 trying activesync.

checked the Delete Items in outlook - my sms'es aren't there.

i'v taken a copy of cemail.vol but not b4 activesync marked the sms'es as deleted......

also check the deleted messages on your phone, if you go to inbox and then from menu, select show folders you can go to the deleted folder and recover them.
