The IPSM is always there, it's the storage part of the phone

that contains the non core OS files. So when you hard reset

you delete the IPSM but on a reboot after it is recreated again.

You can only see it (it's a folder) when you browse the phone with ActiveSync or a file explorer.

Unless you have a WM2003 phone, where it's called "Storage" of course.

I don't think the phone will work without it !

It's one of the main folders, when you first explore the phone

you will have Windows, IPSM, Temp, Databases and Storage card (if you have one in your phone).

There is the other solution, that as you did not say what phone you have you could have an E200 and running the 2003 OS if that is the case IPSM is renamed "Storage"

In that case you do not have or need a folder called IPSM as it's now evolved into the name Storage.
