E200 - Just upgraded - Some Annoying problems though!

After waiting patiently for my new E200, it finally arrived & was instantly impressed!

but.....

the camera is crap in lo light, even with all the extra features you get, it is nowhere near the quality of the sagem in lo light......can this be improved or are we stuck with it?

T9 - why o why cant you edit this or save your words?

Tones - can you get it to scroll through the tones (in settings) from them stored on the storage card? Both Mid & Wav?

Joystick answer - i hope they cure this embarrassing problem!

Camera (2) - Why o why isn't there a cover to stop it getting scratched when in ya pocket?

Record Conversation - it doesn't seem to work?

IA Caller - is this a full working included version? Can i get the upgrades free?

SD Slot - will this take a 512mb MMC?

System Folder - Windows - Is this on ROM as i cant edit any of the files or delete some of the crap Midi tones like on the old SPV?

And why cant the orange team just supply small bug fixes if the Phone runs purely on software?

But what a corker of a phone eh? Give ya Nokias to the kids!

Okay, here's what I know.

Yes the camera is poor and we're stuck with it. Having video capability is cool though.

There is a T9 editor posted up here by Steve Kay. Try looking in Software :Applications.

I think Settings will pick up ringtones from the root of the SD card or possibly in My Documents folder.

I don't think there is an update to IA Caller ID but it works well enough for me. You can download better PITS from lemondeduskin website etc and there's a tool to make your own on the IA Style site.

MMC cards don't work in the E200.

There's no point deleting stuff from Windows as it all gets re-written on reboot.

Anyway, yes its a fantastic phone and welcome to the site mate :)

I think this is also why my E200 keeps crashing, i have a 128mb MMC card fitted from my old SPV, So i have now installed my digital camera's 64mb SD card and it it working better.

I was having problems with opening the Storage card on my PC via active sync, but the above solved this.

It is handy having video but the sound is awful!

I have also heard not to install the update, is this true?

Its no good if the updates make the phone worse!

I'm surprised your MMC card worked in your old SPV as I thought only SD are compatible.

Anyway, there are mixed opinions on the upgrade but if you read the threads discussing the issues you may well come to the same conclusion as me and not bother !

Ye, my MMC card worked fine in my old SPV, and seemed to work ok on my new E200, until i try to access it via the PC. I will see how i get on with this SD card.

I did want the 128mb card to work so i can carry my MP3s.......64mb isnt enough and didnt want to have to purchase another.

I also hope that when i insert my headphone it doesnt get stuck in headset mode!! So annoying! and i have lost the little bung to stop the dust getting in!

also would be great if you could get a smal serial to USB (small) converter so you could plug into a printer and print off files directly! like a word doc or something - if someone has the printer, they will have the lead, u will only need a small gender changer!
