Guest a1.gaz Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 I recently bought a second hand SPV but cannot seem to turn off the answerphone whick kicks in after about 6 rings. I have been on to the Telephony Section and unchecked all the menu headings ie No Reply etc but it does not seem to make a difference. Please Help!!
Guest kalinte Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 dude the voicemail feature is actually network dependent and not just on your phone. some provider ofer it as standard feature to their subscriber (of course for added revenue). so call your provider and asked them how to cancel your voicemail.
Guest malcolmgirling Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 Yes. voicemail is network dependant. With orange you can ring 150 to turn voicemail off but is a problem having to call customers services to switch it on and off. However, there is an option on Orange voicemail for an extended absence greeting. When this is selected you have the option to allow messages to be left or not to be left on your orange voicemail. Other network provides may have a similar option - dial into your voicemail to see if it is there! Another option may be to ask your provider to switch off your voicemail and to find some answer machine software for the SPV (assuming such software exists). I know such software is available for some other such phones (Symbian phones for instance). This may allow you to control the number of rings before your answer machine kicks in or to turn the answer machine off altogether. The problem with this solution is if your phone is switched off then no-one can leave messages, so it may be advisable to select 'silent' profile instead of switching phone off if you want messages to be left for you.
