Guest morpheus2702 Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 This may be considered Off Topic, but here goes: As a prelude to getting a BT-enabled Smartphone, I've been playing about with my Ipaq 1940 and a couple of Bluetooth USB dongles. I've had nothing but trouble and want to find out what I am doing wrong? 1st dongle is a no-name freebie that I got from work. Set up easy enough but drops the connection all the time (e.g. first Actisync won't even get through doing synching the Avant Go channel). 2nd dongle is a Hama 100m from Maplin. Install the software but everytime I go to connect or activate the dongle, my whole PC freezes up and I have to reboot. I know XP SP2 promises better BT support, but I can't understand why I am having so much trouble? Any help/input appreciated!
Guest Brody Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 I have a Belkin dongle and to be honest have not had any problems like the ones you are talking of, not much help I know but at least its confirmation that it does work! :?
Guest morpheus2702 Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 No fair enough Brody - I am pissing about with cheapy Far East dongles with Chinglish instructions, so it might be as well to invest in a Belkin one.
Guest ajb3000 Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 I have a Linksys 100m one here and it's brilliant, even works all over my house (bar the kitchen) with the e200 which I'm really surprised about.
Guest Brody Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 Just to confirm, the E200 is Class 2 so it will only work within a 10 metre range maximum, no matter what the range of your dongle.
