Guest p2daz Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 Right, I have just been converted from my SPV to a used MPX200,I must say that I am very happy with this phone and haven't had any problems at all with it,it seems faster than the spv, hasn't locked up once and the screen colour seems so much richer, there is no dust behind the screen...oh i could go on and on about how much better(in my opinion) it is. I do have one question though, although i don't know if it's unique to the MPX or not-when i press the programes button at the top of the screen there is a symbol and the best way i can diescribe it is a phone with a man on top of it??if that makes sense.Sometimes it has a cross on it as well,it goes as soon as i get back to the home screen. I never had this on the spv,it is probably something that the previous owner did,i don't know. Any thoughts appreciated cheers.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 To be honest I cannot remember what the symbol is used for as I do not have it now. The two apps that spring to mind are the jmms and caller ID as I do not use them now I cannot be 100% as to which one causes it to appear.
Guest squall Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 i think its the caller id thing. means the program is active
Guest p2daz Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 Thanks chaps,it was the caller id,i disabled it from startup and lo and behold-no silly icon. cheers
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 If you do not use mms I suggest you get rid of the jmms app as well as it can slow the phone down. If it's not too late do a hard reset to clear the phone and reinstall any thing you may want onto the storage card instead, (except the jmms app as this has to be installed on the phone).
Guest p2daz Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 Is there any way to do a full backup of the phone before doing a hard reset? There are quite a few apps and games that i wouldn't want to lose on the phone. The phone appears to working perfectly at the moment anyway so i wouldn't want to perform a hard reset yet. Thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 There is a backup app called Sprite Backup but this only works for application unlocked phones according to the author. Problem is even though my phone is application unlocked the app still thinks it is :)

Taken me nearly two evenings to get it back to normal!
