Hi!

After opening my final project for my MSc Computer Science course to the MoDaCo forum I have chosen to develop an alarm program for the Smartphone that offers far more functionality than the integrated alternative. As such I am now open to any and all suggestions with reference to what you would like to see in the application! Currently it will have the following:

- Choice of days (i.e. the ability to set Mon to Fri 7am and Sat 10am)

- 2 alarms

- Variable snooze time

- Single click snooze

- Choice of tone (on the phone and/or Storage Card)

- Vibrate on/off

- User-definable alarm duration

- Countdown alarm

- Stopwatch

And if I have enough time:

- Homescreen plugin

Cheers! :)

Edit: Screenshots added, make sure you're logged in to view them!

Hehe, when i get it to a standard worth testing i'll be in touch :)

Although this may be a good time to point out that i'm probably writing it in C# so it'll be strictly Windows Mobile 2003 onwards :?

I'll see what I can do.

When you say choice of days are you saying we could for instance do the following?

- Mon --> Fri 7am

- Sat --> 10am

- Sun --> 11am

If so, that would be awesome!

Also, I think it would be good if you can stop the alarm from going off after you hit snooze if you want to. For example, it goes off, I hit snooze, then I decide to get up and want to turn it off so it doesn't go off again.

I second that plus having it only go off Monday>Friday,

but i suppose that is the same thing :lol:, also,

i'm guessing that you will be able to have tones from SD Card? :)

Also any chance of a homescreen plugin to go with this to show what time the next alarm is set for etc or is that asking too much :)

All valid points, i'll keep the first post updated inline with your suggestions that i choose to take on!

What sort of length of alarm ringing time had you in mind? Would it be possible to have a custom ringing length?

I was considering playing your chosen alarm once through although you raise a good point as it would be desirable to repeat a short tone over and over again. Perhaps a user-defined alarm duration is an idea too?

Why not play it on repeat until you hit stop or snooze?

Definately has to have a homescreen plugin!

In fact, trying to copy my old Nokia alarm which is the best phone alarm I've ever used, why don't you make it get progressively louder until you turn it off?

You can already make your current alarm do that but its something to think about, i'll update the first post when i get back from the pub!

Yeh, the increasing volume would be a nice feature :)

I was also thinking it would be quite cool if it made the LED flash a certain colour or sequence,

dunno how possibble that is, but it's only something i was thinking of when i was bored :lol:

suggest you take a look at sunnysoft alarm. it gives you six independant alarms which can be set for any combination of days. Posted from my SmartPhone!

This sounds like a good level of coding for a degree level project, I would be interested to see the results. Also, as you will no doubt have to document it up to the eyeballs, it might be nice to be able to get access to the source code in the future - perhaps for those people with an interest in C#, .Net, Compact Framework and are about to buy an E200... :) :lol:

Plus if you're checking out the competition then Jeyo Media Alarm (not sure if you can get this anymore) or the LCD homescreen plugin's alarm are both very good and free. The Jeyo one doesn't seem to work with the E200 but the LCD alarm allows you to set different timed alarms for each day.

Indeed i will have to document it so i may release the project to the public, we'll see, it depends how well i get on with it! :)

Exams done, project begun, the more suggestions the better so if you have anymore then please post them and i'll add them to the list in the first post on the first page if I like them! :D Cheers to all in advance!

OK so here's my next suggestion, a countdown alarm and a stop watch, sound like something you might want in such an application?
