Guest ryanred5 Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Hi I need abit of help from all you clever guys out there. What I want is a homescreen layout that has the minimum of stuff on it, so the backgrounds I have downloaded can be seen in full. Something like the carrier (Orange), time and date in a small font at the bottom of the start page on the SPV E200. I hope Im making sense here. Ive tired using the homescreen layouts already installed and the Large Font is about the only one near to what I want but its too big and has a line under it (dont want that). If anyone could help I would be most grateful. Thanks alot. Catherine
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Here's my collection of others' work on various basic skins for displaying your own backgrounds with varying amounts of information overlaid. :)basic.zip
Guest ryanred5 Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Hi Discostu Ive had a look at the ones you have done, but unfortunately there is a blank bit at the bottom of the background, dont know what causes that. Do you know why there would a blank area right at the bottom? Thanks Catherine
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Hi Catherine Could be a couple of things. Your backgrounds need to be 176x200. The freeware Irfanview is excellent for resizing pics. Otherwise you need the E200 screen fix from the Custom Cabbage site, although that just fixes the dead pixel line at the bottom of the screen.
Guest ryanred5 Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Hi Discostu The backgrounds are okay when I use the large font and the other standard layouts. its just when I put yours and some of the other custom layouts Ive found on my SPV, this blank line appears at the bottom. Any ideas? Thanks Catherine
Guest Disco Stu Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 As I said, they're not my work and as I'm not an xml editor I don't really know. I've never had any problems with them using 176x200 pix. Are we talking single line of pixels or half an inch ? You could zip up one of your backgrounds in your reply or PM me it and I'll see how it looks on my phone.
Guest ryanred5 Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Hi Stu Eventually I managed to suss the XML out, more from trial and error than anything else, I made what I wanted, a 16 point carrier (Orange at the top) and the time and date at the bottom also in 16 point. I also sussed that there needs to be something in the XML that says "", which I presume makes the background align to the bottom so there isnt a blank bit. Im gonna try the files again that you posted and see if I add the above bit, will make the backgrounds go right to the bottom. Im really pleased with myself, that I managed to do what I wanted, but thank you such much for your help. Ive added my file, so if anyone wants to use it they can do. Its just a simple XML file, with just the carrier, time and date, and it allows the background to be seen in full. Catherine
Guest ryanred5 Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 I dont think the file attached, so Ill try again. If not, Ill meail it to you Discostu, would you mind adding it onto this thread for me. Thanks CatherineCatherines_Screen.home.zipCatherines_Screen.home.zip
