on the i600. synching was working fine for several months prior to failing and getting that error on the i600.

didnt find anything on msft kbase couple of weeks ago.

If you upgraded MS office to 2003 it may be causing the problem.

Microsoft has an internal tech note on this. You should be able to clear it up by deselecting calender, contacts, and mail and reselecting. I was also able to clear it up by erasing the memory by holding down the # and 6 while powering up the phone.
