Guest adverse camber Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 My SPV is repeatedly sending the same text message to the same number and has been doing so since saturday night  about 8 texts a day. Every time it resends the message, the original item is removed from the sent folder and a new copy of the message appears with the datestamp updated. I've asked orange to send me a sim update, but I haven't received one yet, although it sounds more like a software problem to me. Hopefully someone here has run across this before. If you can help me sort this out before orange charge the hell out of me, I'd really appreciate it. I have tried deleting all trace of the message from the phone and sending other sms to the same number but it still happens. Please tell me I can get away without doing a reset, it'll take me hours to reinstall all that software. . . Thanks
Guest kjk Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 have you installed scheduled sms by darwin :?:
Guest adverse camber Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Nope, no scheduled sms on there, only the old but useful smstools for emptying out the folders when I feel like purging the mailbox.
Guest kjk Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 it's look like you need a hardreset use sprite backup if you don't want to loos you setting and installed app on your phone
Guest adverse camber Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 OK. I decided that to reset the phone was extreme. After a little searching I discovered that there was a message in the outbox that wasn't deleted after it was sent. That meant that every time the phone booted or reconnected to the network it tried to clear the outbox by sending that message. The answer I found was to delete everything using sms tools. I know that there is a file somewhere that contatenates the contents of the inbox, outbox, sent etc. into a single place, one file for each directory. Can anyone tell me what those files are, if they can be edited and where to find them? That way I can manually backup my texts if I want to by copying the file, and I should also be able to delete just the outbox if this problem happens again. Right now I have another text just sat in the outbox, luckily this time it has no recipients and it refuses to be deleted through the standard menu options. I can fix this if you could let me know the filename of the outbox. Thanks
