Guest RickDawson Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 when I turn my spv on and try to use some app that requires gprs, it won't connect and it just hangs. however if i turn the aeroplane option on the quick list on then off, it will let me use gprs. anyone know why? Is there a solution to this?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 If you have an SPV what update version do you have? Have a look in SettingsAbout as it sounds like you may still have the old 1.3.5 update. In the past the GPRS has been known to be a bit buggy.
Guest RickDawson Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 I had updated to the 1.6.1 (orange uk) long before this quirk appeared. It's been like this since the final of the world snooker.
Guest martin Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 So after powering up your SPV you can't intially connect using GPRS but if you then turn radio off/on the GPRS the connection is successful. What happens after this. Does GPRS remain OK until you power down the SPV again or do you lose the connection again in normal use ? When you first power up the SPV do you get the top centre G diplayed ? When it "hangs", where does it get stuck i.e dialling, finding page or connecting.

Yep. What happens after this. Does GPRS remain OK until you power down the SPV again or do you lose the connection again in normal use ? GPRS is the ok until I power the SPV down. When you first power up the SPV do you get the top centre G diplayed ?no. When it "hangs", where does it get stuck i.e dialling, finding page or connecting. It hangs on dialing. The GPRS settings are correct, as I have had them sent via SMS using the orange UK website.
Guest martin Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 When you first power up the SPV do you get the top centre G diplayed ? no. It seems you are not doing a GPRS attach on startup :? How are you with the registry Editor ? You could try checking the EnableAutoAttach parameter to ensure that it's still set correctly. Load registry editor Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftRILRILConfig Select Values Edit EnableAutoAttach It should be set to 1
Guest RickDawson Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 I have already checked that setting in the registry, as I found out about it from another thread. I've even disabled it, rebooted, enabled it again, rebooted to no avail.
Guest RickDawson Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I have solved it by deleting the rom on the mobile and doing a re-install of the 1.6 update, and then application unlocked the mobile, then reinstalled the custom homescreen and all the other installed plugins apps etc.
