Guest drblow Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Right - how many other people are experiencing this on e200?? 1) when changing homescreens, the phone freezes completely, requiring a battery pull. Not all the time, but alot. 2) with some homescreens, after a while, you look at the screen, and the 'no valid homescreen layouts can be found' error. What is going on? Is everybody/anybody getting this, or have I f**ked mine up doing too much xml butchery??
Guest Vector Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Mine hasn't done this when testing my skins out? :? and if it says that there is no valid homescreen layouts found hen that means there is something nasty in your xml :)
Guest drblow Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Yeah, I know! BUt it happened yesterday after DLing the new Modaco3 homescreen by midnight, with the RemyJ html plugin. I hadn't even begun to butcher it yet. I know there's nothing wrong with the xml, coz it's not mine!! EDIT - it's just done it again, only this time it said 'data call' at the top of the screen, then the no valid homescreen error. If nobody else is getting this - what could be wrong??
Guest crafty Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 yeah mine keeps freezing when i change homescreens. It's really annoying as i'm doing a new skin and i keep having to pull the battery. I had thought it was lifes way of telling me i should be revising for my finals instead of pi**ing around! I'm not a plus member (yet!) so can't say for sure but maybe you got an error when the RJHtml updated itself from the internet, but then again i guess that would have affected everyone else using the same homescreen...
Guest drblow Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Well, not that I'm glad you are also having problems, but it's a bit of a relief to know its not just me! Know what I mean!!?? I don't think it is anything to do with the new html plugin. The same thing happened to me with a skin requiring the LCD plugin - so maybe some plugin .dll files are getting corrupted somewhere - but thats just a wild guess, I know f**k all about stuff like that!! :) Seems completely odd tho - if home.exe was corrupted in some way, you would think that would affect all homescreens. & if it's just some xml files, then why would it happen with other people's skins, the xml of which poses no problem for other e200's?? Just another e200 enigma?? I don't even know what to say to OCS about this one. They have enough trouble trying to understand the problem of the storage card switching off, let alone trying to explain this one to them!
Guest bolasz Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Mine is not freezing but I also had the "no valid blabla" message a few times. What I did was that I've put all the plugin dll's in the internal memory (they were on the card before) and since then it's alright.
Guest crafty Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 Aaaargggh! Had never had the "no valid homescreen installed" bug before until reading this thread, and my phone has just started doing it! It's almost as if it knows exactly how to annoy me; fist make me feel smug that i've got no problem and then WHAM start acting up! I'm in the middle of making a new homescreen at the mo so it could by my dodgey xml, but then again it seems to work fine for a while and then stop working for no apparent reason :s
Guest drblow Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 He he! I'm passing on the curse! :) Thats exactly what happens to me. I reckon it is something in the system. If it was dodgy xml, then opening it in IE would expose the errors. Either that or it wouldn't ever open properly. The 'no valid homescreens' ususally means there is an image missing rather than bad xml - but as to why it works for a while and then stops is beyond me. Try explaining this one to OCS!!
Guest Will Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 the data call (as far as i understand the booting procedures) is refreshing the provisioning xml (security certificates etc). - you know the one's we all butchered to decertify the original spv! i would guess that either your phone is partially 'recertified' itself, or perhaps something used in the homescreen is on the SD card - which could not be launched? anyhow, see if these little ramblings help at all, if not.. sorry! Will
Guest drblow Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 erm ... what data call? You mean in the html plugin? If so, that aint it, coz the homescreen disappeared without ever making any data calls using the html plugin! It's only happened once (on the original skin by midnight - all the ones I've chopped up myself have worked OK??). Nothing for my homescreen is ever on the SD card, so it ain't that either! Cheers for your input Will, but I can't see this one as being anything else but another in the long list of mysterious e200 bugs that only happen to some people at some times - making it impossible to actually go through any kind of elimaination procedure!
Guest Will Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 i never said it was the reason :) i'm pretty sure the phone 'reprovisions' itself after a hard reset, hence my idea on the data call - direct to the network, using some magic all of it's own!!. so nothing on the homescreen is using anything on the sd card you say, wierd..? i have not actually had this problem! (wow you may say) - but this may be to do with the fact i don't use an sd card for anything except mapopolis maps now! but am using modaco3 and beersofts battery monitor.
