Guest A.Hughes Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Saw this article and info, anyone know whether it going to be better than what is already available, (i.e. Pocket TV, Media PLayer, Pocket MVP) Looks good, but then i'm not well up on movie and video encoding!! New VERY COOL application kit for Microsoft Smartphone: SmartMovie May 22, 2004 [MS Smartphone] Some programs are so impressive that they take you breath away. This is one of such programs. It consists of an application for Microsoft Smartphone and an application for PC - therefore it constitutes a kit - a complete solution: Video player for your mobile phone, with handy PC video converter. Play your favorite videos on your phone with sound and subtitles! After installation of the program on Microsoft Smartphone we have tried to make screenshots of it the standard way (Remote Display from Microsoft's Power Toys) but it is not working and is just showing the "busy" cursor: ... therefore we were forced to do screen shots with a digital camera. Here is how this application looks like on Microsoft Smartphone: To download free trial version of this application or to buy it (price: $24.99) click here. More information from the vendor follows below. * * * * * SmartMovie is a video player for your mobile device, with counterpart PC converter utility. Guest Vector Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 hmm, looks pretty interesting...not sure how the quality will compare to Beta Player tho?...will download the demo in a while :)
Guest Simon Desser Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I've got this on my P900, and it is absolutely FANTASTIC :)
Guest mike-oh Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 But wont rip straight from DVD tho! darn it
Guest jeRrRKKKK Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 it was the BEST movie player for symbian60... and i'll say... if it can give watever it gave on symbian on smartphone... it'll definately beat betaplayer or pocketmovie.. on my ngage.. it gave brilliant framerates, good audio and the program didn't lag... betaplayer lags quite abit...
Guest xavierjohn22 Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 My mäté göt ngägé and we compare it with betaplayer avi, Béta wön! Bwahahahaha! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest jeRrRKKKK Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 you can't compare a device with only 4k color screen against 1 with 65k... but smartmovie is better cause the movie it generates is smaller, and has quality tt's as good... the program doesn't lag like betaplayer too.. and the converter is alot easier to use
Guest xavierjohn22 Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 you just cömpare it ön yöur first pöst, hi hi hi. Thats why i loöked if it was true. and it was nöt. smartmovie chappy. beta is great. He hé. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest hawpunch Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 i have to agree with xavierjohn. i just tried smartmovie and it is still pretty choppy. with betaplayer, i get really smooth playback. betaplayer is still the better player in my book...plus its free. jae park
Guest kurtfhouse Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 The user interface is brilliant in smartmovie, but I have to agree with the other comments here, betaplayer is a lot smoother and the superior player. Infact I would say that the playback on Smartmovie is by far the worst of all the players I have tried.
Guest jason76 Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 converting movies :) playing them  picture and sound are pants even with the demos supplied. maybe its just me but i found all the other players good..
Guest Simon Desser Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 There's obviously a problem with Smartmovie (on Windows Smartphones) because, as most people here have found, playback is appaulling :? However, I can honestly say that the same program on my SE P900 is awesome, and blows everything else away :) Lets hope they can sort the problems out :?:
Guest Vector Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Think i'll be sticking with BetaPlayer for now :) As the video quality is better and it is freeware
Guest phonesmarts Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 hes right. betaplayer is freeware...and freeware owns all.
Guest BrAGoL Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 based from the comments i read, it's still beta player for me... also considering the fact that it's FREE!!! :) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest pornflakes Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 where do i fint the directshows codex it say that i need to install that???????????????
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 How can we rip dvd's using smartmovie?
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I can't get beta player to play the avi files created by smartmovie. Am I doing something stupid?
Guest djfuego Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 LOL I can't believe people would want to pay $25 for that. You can encode your own vids simply enough.
