Automatic factory reset. how to stop it?

Since i got my orange SPV e100 second hand about a month ago it has since reset itself twice. I first decerted the phone using the orange software from their site. But after a couple of weeks it decides to reset to factory settings without any prompt, it just does it when i switch on my phone. This is pretty frustrating as it recertifies everything, including registered programs. So i have to download the decertifier off orange again and get all my products reregistered. Has anybody gotten this before and can anybody inform me of how to prevent this happening again.

Thanks for any help recieved.

Strange, what programs are you installing/have installed on your phone?

I have Mytools, Pocketmusic, PocketMVP, PocketTV, SmartExplorer, Clearvue suite, orneta notepad, Scumm, Pocketnes, Gnuboy and various games. I dont have anything like a registry editor. But i dont think the programs have anything to do with whats happening. It'll work fine for roughly two to three weeks and then i'll switch it on and itll be like when you do the manual reset. I thought it was just a one off occurence when it first happened but it happened again yesterday without me playing around with any settings.

This can happen spontaneously, perhaps you just got unlucky and had a few

in a short space of time? :?

this often happens if you install a few programs within a short space of time without giving the phone time to set up the registery correctly. I tend to restart my phone after every 1 or 2 installs.

Hmmm, sounds interesting. Ill' try not to install as many things in a period of time. However there is a pretty bad problem now, all programs that were installed now dont appear in the remove programs list. And when trying to uninstall using activesync it just removes it from the list without actually uninstalling it. is there anyway to get around this?

Once again, thanks.

You need to reinstall everything to get that working again.

Make sure you install everything you can onto the storage card as the phone may be complaining about lack of memory !

Before reinstalling everything i would do a hard reset. The self resets tend not to wipe everything, so just to keep the phone clean tis better to wipe it completely

Two main things that cause a partial reset is dodgy xml code in homescreen themes and the main culprit of your battery running low.

And another thing that causes it is Registry coruption - which can happen with a dodgy install or (as squall said) lots of things being installed in a short space of time withou reboots.

What happens is the phone nukes the Registry (when it discovers corruption) and replaces it with a clean one - which means that your programs are still on the phone but none of thier settings have survived. So, best to hard reset and re-install.
