Hi,

I have a new E200 which I'm just getting used to. I also do a lot of mountain biking. I'm currently taking my phone out tucked safely in my backpack. But I'd like to make it more accessable when I'm riding. For instance I'd like to be able to stop and take a snapshot of something without having to take off my backpack. In future I'm thinking of getting a BT GPS to hook up to it, so I can track my location, speed, altitude and so on. But that would only be useful if I can easily hear the phone and get it out to look at it, so it's gonna need to be near me - and not tucked away in the backpack.

Does anyone on this forum take their phone out biking? Do you use GPS? If so, how do you carry it so that it's easily accessible, and obviously reasonably protected in the event of a crash (which I do a lot!!).

I'm thinking maybe a carrying case which would normally attach to a belt, but attaching it to my camelback's straps.

Any comments/advice/suggestions!?

Cheers

Cheers - certainly worth a bit of a look. Although I'm skeptical as to whether the SPV can take the hammering oif being attached to the handle bars of my bike - things get very shaken up on some of my downhill runs. I think it would be shaken to a pulp very quickly...

Thanks for the link though...

I bought a neoprene pouch that attaches to the straps of my backpack to use when I'm riding. It means that is protected but easily accessible when you need to skip tracks in media player or take pictures (and you can hear it ringing). It's similar to this:

Looks like the business! Thanks.

Anyone out there using Mapopolis and GPS whilst riding?

Just had a crazy idea! I wonder what it would be like if you strapped your phone to your chest/backpack straps/whatever and recorded on video, using the phone's camera, your downhill runs. Could be superb! For that you'd need a case which protected the SPV but which allowed the camera to be open and used.

Is such a case available?

The video recorder isn't good enough to capture high speed action. Even if you did get the case you're looking for it would just be one big blur.

topeak do a great phone bag [handy phone pack plus] that has two compartments, the smaller one fits an spv exactly, the larger compartment you can keep other items in.

it has a quick release mount for the stem / bar, or any tube. mine is mounted upside down under the stem so it wont get damaged if i crash, & the QR is spring mounted so it takes the bumps.

its not got a window for the screen but at least its upfront on the bike.
